Adventure Reading #3 | Only a week for vacations and killing some time with "Evernight"

Studying systems engineering can kill you sometimes.

@therovingreader created by far, one of my favorite contest here on steemit. This actually something that I enjoy doing plus is an excuse to read a book :)

So, let's begin with a new entry!

Doing your DB project in like a week can be hard, I still don't understand why my partner and I leave for last minute when we had like a month to do it... We're defenitely the worst.

I need to stop leaving big assigments for later

Reading a book can be really relaxing. I am really happy vacations are basically here.

The Place: My dinner table, Maracay, Venezuela.

Guide: Relaxing after a long week.

Being on my last two weeks of this semester basically eating all my time so, since I really wanted to spent some time in my house relaxing, sleeping and eating I decided to another adventure in my house. I even prepare some chocolate to accompany the reading.

Since it was in my house, the little monster is back but this time she didn't join but since I have her as my personal model I did a little photoshoot with her.

I should do one of these with a Bungou Stray Dogs or Naruto Novel, smartphone reading won't kill me.

The Book: "Evernight" by Claudia Gray.

Goodreads: Evernight (Evernight, #1)
Pages: 327.
My Rating: 4/5.

Blurb:

She's been uprooted from her small hometown and enrolled at Evernight Academy, an eerie Gothic boarding school where the students are somehow too perfect: smart, sleek, and almost predatory. Bianca knows she doesn't fit in.
Then she meets Lucas. He's not the "Evernight type" either, and he likes it that way. Lucas ignores the rules, stands up to the snobs, and warns Bianca to be careful—even when it comes to caring about him.
"I couldn't stand it if they took it out on you," he tells Bianca, "and eventually they would."
But the connection between Bianca and Lucas can't be denied. Bianca will risk anything to be with Lucas, but dark secrets are fated to tear them apart . . . and to make Bianca question everything she's ever believed.

For some reason, when it comes to manga and books I have a tendency to pick clichés. I really enjoy them, they have little moments that I love with all my heart because the're silly and cute plus, they are fast readings most of the times.

So, we have Bianca a 16-year-old girl who is dragged into Midnight High School because her parents will start working as teachers during this course (I personally would never study where my parents work, it's not much fun). She doesn't want to be there, she doesn't have any friends and that school is just giving her nightmares. He decides to escape early in the morning but his escape plans are stopped by a boy named Lucas. This is the first year they accept another type of student, since most of them are teenage children of mommy and daddy. Lucas belongs to the new group of rejected students and Bianca... Well, she just doesn't fit into either group.

At the beginning of the book it seems like the typical romantic relationship, if it doesn't suit you, I have to protect you but it's much more than that. Bianca is not a weak girl at all, she is strong, determined, very funny with hilarious and especially passionate outings. Bianca is one of my favorite characters, although she knows very little about her own life (this is one of the things that makes me want to read the second book)

Lucas is a rebellious boy, with things very clear and is a very sweet and protective boy with Bianca who knows what he wants. He also has a touch of mischievous that I adore, but even more so he went to Balthazar, he is pure love, I want one for myself. We also have Vic, a guy with a Hawaiian soul, philosophical, something hippie, especially funny. In each dialog that appears gives a touch of fantastic humor.

"-Tu y yo seguimos siendo amigos, ¿no? Que sepáis que en este divorcio tenéis la custodia compartida. Amplios derechos de visita.
-¿Divorcio?- Me eché a reír a mí pesar. Solo a Vic se le ocurría llamar divorcio al resultado de una primera cita que había salido mal- Seguimos siendo amigos."

Bianca and Lucas have an affair a little fast, which for me is one of the things that gives much more pleasure to the book, but still you notice the passion and insecurities of the first love and as the book progresses one gets hooked more and more, you want to know everything about our two protagonists and the rest of secondary characters.

I have to accept that, for some reason I thought that Lucas was the vampire... What happens at the dance left me like "QUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, HE ESTADO EQUIVOCADA DURANTE TODO LO QUE HE LEIDO!?" .

The story is surrounded by a touch of mystery, which will give clues little by little, reason why i did not expect that ending. The end is full of action in which the first mysteries are solved. Claudia and her writing was something that I liked very much because it was the style of vampire stories that I like because nothing is what it seems and all the characters that there are, hide more than one secret.

The book is narrated in the first person, from Bianca's point of view we perceive all the details of this wonderful story. Claudia Gray gets a good dose of descriptions that get us right into the history.

I will look out for the second one in the next few weeks :)

To conclude, here's my little monsters photoshoot!

Again and as always, thank you Katie (@therovingreader) for doing this contest again, you're giving me a reason to read books even when I am busy c:

You can find all the details about the contest here it's an old post, so if you're going to upvote make sure you do it in the new one :)

Nice post @awhsarada and i love your cat she is cute like always!!. that book sure seems interesting i´ll have to put it on my reading list.

It's super cliche, I'm pretty sure you won't like it XD

I like to read in bed with my cat too! This book sounds really good- I might have to pick it up for my classroom library.
