An evening visit to Nottingham
I have three work colleagues over to the UK from Chelyabinsk in Russia. We had time to have a short evening visit to Nottingham city centre.
This statue of Robin Hood is outside Nottingham Castle
Also at the site of the statue are 4 plaques depicting scenes from the tales of Robin Hood.
Our first stop was.
Ye Old Trip to Jerusalam Built in 1189 and with some of the rooms cut out of the rock that the castle sits on.
We had a pint and then moved up past Severn’s Building.
Severn's Building Built in 1450, It was built on Middle Pavement but moved to this location in 1970 to allow for the building of the Broadmarsh shopping centre. It has been empty since 2012 and is currently up for sale.
We soon arrived at our next pub. The Sal.
Ye Olde Salutation Inn built in 1240, and is an excellent place to see rock bands.
A short walk takes you into the City centre and the City Hall.
The Council Building or City Hall Built between 1927 and 1929. The council only completed paying for it in 1981 at a cost of over £30 million.
The Market Square Many events are put on here.
We then walked by what was the next oldest pub. Ye Flying Horse built in 1483.
Then it was off to church.
Passing the Pit and Pendulum Pub on the way.
Inside the Church which was built in 1876 and later turned into a pub called the Pitcher and Piano, opened in 1998.
This is a fantastic modern Grade II listed building.
Finally we went to the Via Fosse on the canal side and had a great meal.
All photos are my own except the Via Fosse image which is a google image labelled for reuse.
I am glad you enjoyed your visit to my home city of Nottingham! You should also visit our Nottinghamshire countryside, we have some beautiful places, Rufford Abbey, Sherwood Forest to name a couple! Lots to see! :)
Unfortunately this visit was only for a few hours and in the evening, so all the tourist places like the castle, galleries of justice and caves were closed. Our other beautiful places will have to wait. Thanks for the comment.
Ahhhhhh, beautiful places - on my lifetime bucket list .... sigh.

It's amazing to see all these buildings still standing strong after all these years mate! They were built by experts in those times for sure!
