Tokyo, Japan is the city of juxtaposition of old world traditions and modern technology. During our visit to Tokyo, we visited a VERY UNIQUE restaurant called Robot Restaurant. We had no idea what to expect!

You walk down the alley and already you are inundated with lights, music, and the smell of delicious aromas coming from the open walled restaurants nearby.

Robot Restaurant is located in the Shinjuku Perfecture (neighborhood) in Tokyo. It can be easily reached by the very easy to navigate public transportation system in Tokyo. Upon walking up to the restaurant, we were greeted by a very bright sign and and two gigantic robots sitting outside of the restaurant.

After you buy your tickets, you are instructed to wait in the lounge where you can eat and drink a little before the show starts. Judging from the lounge, you can tell you are in for a crazy night. The lounge itself was like stepping into another world! Everything was so shiny, gold, and loud! The decor is truly out of this world!

There is even a "robot" musician entertaining us with live music. LOL.

Then after some time, all the audience members were called to enter the "arena." WE left the lounge and headed to the designated area. To get to the arena you had to walk down several flights of stairs. Even the stairs were intricately decorated. It was a sight to see. We felt like we were entering another realm of this universe. And the show hasn't even started yet! The creators of this restaurant did a fantastic job emerging you into their world and engaging your senses from the moment you enter the building.

Finally after descending down several flights of stairs, you enter the show area and take your seat. The seating area is not that big. There are 3 rows of seating on one side of the room and we were facing 3 rows of other audience members on the other side of the room. There were 3 large screens on each wall facing each other. The waiters took our drink orders before the show started. When you buy your ticket you can opt to buy dinner with your ticket, but we decided just to see the show.

Once the show starts, it's a sensory overload! You feel the energy in the air, you hear the rhythm of the music, you see all these crazy costumes, colors, and imagery! It's almost on the verge of being overwhelming.

There is so much to see everywhere. You try not to miss a thing, but everyone is everywhere at once. The floats come right up to your seat. At the beginning of the show they warn you to watch your hands and feet because the performers literally float above your head in their contraptions. The instruments they play float above your head as it passes by. The robots come in close contact to where you are sitting. It's all a feast for the senses!

There is dancing, singing, showmanship, and robot fights! One minute you are watching futuristic dinosaur robot fighting another robot, and another minute you are watching a Jabbawockee-esque performance with dancers wearing a full LED suit.

After the show, we left the building feeling like we were just on some sort of acid trip. We were trying to process everything we just experienced. But of course we couldn't leave without taking a picture with the famous fembots in the front of the restaurant.

That looks like a very interesting adventure. Really a sensory overload, from merely looking at the pictures. I'll suggest you research for your camera's night mode so it can compensate the shutter speed and do away with the blur in your images when shooting in low-lit areas. Amazing poot!

Thanks for the tip! You seem like you really know what your taking about. Do you study photography?

:-) I had a reasonable spell as a professional Photographer.

Looks amazing! I was outside the place but my fam didn't want to buy tickets :P
