SALTO ANGEL VENEZUELA

in #adventure6 years ago

El Salto del Angel is located in the highlands of Guayana, one of the five regions of Venezuela. The water comes a free fall from about 979 meters of the Churum River around the edge of the "Auyantepuy", considered the largest Tepuy of these historic rock formations, this height makes it the highest waterfall in the world.

The Angel Falls is 15 times larger than Niagara Falls, with a difference of approximately 52 meters.

This fall is named after Jimmy Angel, an adventurous pilot from Missouri, United States, who flew in the Lindberg Air Circus. James Crawford Angel (Jimmy Angel) is a modern legend. He saw the waterfall for the first time in 1933 with his partner, while searching for the legendary Rio de Oro, or the Golden City.

James returned again in 1937 with his wife and friend Gustavo Enrique Gardener, after an overflight on the top of the tepuy had to make an emergency landing on the summit of the Auyantepuy. The plane could safely reach the top of the Tepuy and stayed there for 33 years until it was rescued by a helicopter from the Venezuelan Air Force to be rebuilt as a tribute to the feat of Jimmy aNGEL.

Jimmy Angel and his three companions managed to descend from Tepuy and return to civilization, walking through the jungle for 11 days. the plane used by James Angel is currently in the Museum of Aviation in Maracay, and today at the top of the Auyantepuy is a replica of Jimmy's plane.

The fascinating world of Canaima National Park is a perfect combination of magic and reality, consisting of impressive mountains called Tepuyes, countless rivers, lakes, waterfalls, forests, savannas and extends like a green sea, this environment requires a visit at least Once in life .

In this natural refuge created by God there are interesting plants and animals, sometimes endemic (unique in the world), also the Pemón Indians are part of the past of this impressive region. They are people with a culture, art, folklore and ancient cuisine, are considered the indigenous inhabitants of Venezuela and the guardians of these sacred and spectacular mountains.

This mosaic of nature is a living testimony of the geographical history of our planet.

Canaima National Park is located in the southwest of Venezuela, south of the Orinoco River in the Gran Sabana municipality of Bolívar State, it was declared a national park on June 12, 1962 by the National Executive, in order to protect the places of interest and preserve it Virgin for the rest of the world.

The park has 3 million hectares, which is the second largest protected area in Venezuela and sixth in the world. The highest waterfall in the real world is not permanent and is next to the Angel Falls called: La Catira ..

The park is divided into two parts: East and West.

The western part is simply called Canaima and can be reached by flights from Caracas, Margarita, Puerto Ordaz, Ciudad Bolívar and Santa Elena.

Enjoy this privileged place with the highest waterfall in the world, the incredible Angel Falls. See the spectacular scenery of the Canaima Lagoon, with beautiful waterfalls, inviting you to swim in its beautiful white sand beaches that surround the lagoon.

To the east is the Gran Sabana, which can be reached by air or land from Puerto Ordaz and Santa Elena de Uairén, the last town in southern Venezuela, just 20 minutes from the border with Brazil and then start the planned routes on your tour

This is the oldest corner of the planet that is two million years old (2000 million). Time and nature make this place something special and its visitors feel like in another world. This unique place gives you the opportunity to integrate with nature in a direct and real way. Ecotourism par excellence offers a world to discover.
