Mt. Baker, 10,781 ft, Glacier Travel
I recall sitting in employee break rooms, orientations, and school counseling rooms, they all had those stupid "SUCCESS or "ACHIEVE YOUR DREAMS" posters. On those posters depicted images of mountain climbing vistas. The embodiment of succeeding, or something. NO! Climbing up a hill is in fact, the act of, slowly walking uphill for hours and days feeling nauseated and tired. Does success feel like vomiting? With these views, it's worth the upchuck.

The beginning of any multi day mountain summit has high ambitions, beautiful hiking trails over streams and through woods.
Temperatures and weather at these altitudes can drop and change drastically (much like the cyrpto environment).
We wake at 2am for the final summit push.
And hit summit at sunrise.
Traveling back down is more dangerous than the climb up. The body is weak and tired. Altitude above 10,000' where the air is thin, can play tricks with the mind in the form of judgement and headaches. It is important to be below glacier levels by noon, when the sun has begun to weaken the ice.
Glacier travel requires a minimum of two tandem climbers roped together spread about 50 feet apart. This is in case a snow bridge may break or one individual falls into a crevasse. A very dangerous situation requiring self rescuing.
Remember, whatever that road you're walking upon, push those dreams, despite those stupid posters.

Hahaha awesome story, dude.
I think that, in more ways than I care to imagine, success does indeed feel like vomitting. The feeling of trying as hard as you can, and having it pay off is hard to match.
Bet that sunrise view was pretty incredible... Partially due to the low oxygen, but still.
Thanks man. Yeah, you’re probably right- the act of giving something 100% to achieve an uncertain dream can be nauseating. 😎 Sunrises above 10,000ft are hard to match. Puts many aspects of life into perspective.
Nice images! Do you have the copyright for that song?
This is what I have always admired about you. I know you dislike being put on a pedestal, but your courage has, and continues to inspire me. I am always so unspeakably, ridiculously proud of you. ALWAYS.
Thanks babe. Your support means a lot to me. Even though some of my plans and ideas might be scary in your eyes. I'll always come back alive ;)
I hope so. This home ain't a home without you in it. <3
