It stated inIt's the summer of 1983 in the north of Italy, and Elio Perlman (Timothée Chalamet), a precocious 17-year-old young man, spends his days in his family's 17th century villa transcribing and playing classical music, reading, and flirting with his friend Marzia (Esther Garrel). Elio enjoys a close relationship with his father (Michael Stuhlbarg), an eminent professor specializing in Greco-Roman culture, and his mother Annella (Amira Casar), a translator, who favor him with the fruits of high culture in a setting that caters with natural delights and pleasure. While Elio's sophistication and intellectual gifts suggest he is already a fully-fledged adult with confidence, there is much that yet remains innocent and unformed about him, particularly about things of the heart and feelings. One day, Oliver (Armie Hammer), a 24-year-old American college graduate student working on his doctorate, arrives as the annual summer intern tasked with helping Elio's father in his work. Amid the sun-drenched heat splendor of the setting, Elio and Oliver discover the heady beauty of awakening desire and admiration over the course of a summer that will alter their lives forever.

After the success of Brokeback mountain in 2005, Call me by your Name is the film that brought a sensitive yet relevant topic about coming out. A film that shows a love story about two men – a seventeen years old Elio, from Italy and twenty-four years old American scholar Oliver. As the two made love so desperately, that they have forgotten about other people in the whole world around them.

Clearly one of the most evident theme that the movie discussed was about the 'Obsessive love'.It is highlighted in depiction of the 17 year-old Italian boy Elio and shows that love can be very dangerous than mind, and the fact that it becomes obsessive there is no way out of this feeling, it eats a person from the inside alive , it takes heart forever and there is no hope or sentiments that it will fade away one day. That was one quality the film has to offered. To note that isn’t a film about wrongdoing and punishment; it is about love, loss, and piercing joy in the context of a gay romance which became more interesting.

Well of if you have watch the film behind the scenes or even the making, the production had clearly prepared so much for this as the two main stars went to Italy earlier as order by the director to developed their chemistry together. The film has much depth to offered as there were realm of symbol, of gesture, of ideas, of feelings that arise from careful attention to images or a brusque gestural energy. call me by Your Name relates to the fact that nearly every movie you could think of that deals with the hiding — that is, the suppression — of gay life carries an overt message but in a sensual delight way. This coming-of-age love story is all texture, tone and nuance .Luca Guadagnino (director) surely has made a lovely cinematic feather which it floats down beautifully, riding a soft breeze of melancholy and grace.

From the 80's cinematography vibes to the great script , the main highlight was the great performances delivered by the 2 stars of the film. Armie Hammer as Oliver and Timothée Chalamet as Elio Perlman gives me goosebumps as they delivered they scenes/. The emotions were too much to handle. Timothée Chalamet is without a doubt absolute force of nature. he clearly surprised a lot of people. His character,Elio will make you want to love, and hurt, and piece yourself back together with absolutely no regrets whatsoever upon watching him. Elio will surely make you want to live your life to the fullest. No question he has received several awards and recognition for this film.Armie Hammer is absolutely brilliant in many ways, like how he humanizes Oliver who is somewhat glorified through Elio's lens in the first part of the book and in the movie. In the movie, Oliver is endearing and human and sexy and caring which is very fit to the character of Hammer. he had shown versatility in his acting film. The Supporting casts as well were excellent and brought a different yet refreshing dynamics on the film.

 

 

The film brought several recognition like Oscars best Best Adapted Screenplay for James Ivory with some nominations like Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for Timothée Chalamet and best Motion picture of the year. The film was also recognized by other awarding bodies like Golden Globes and BAFTA awards.

Call Me By Your Name is the kind of movie that well surely left as in awe. It is a film that makes us sit through the credits with tears rolling down our face, staring blankly at the screen with a lump in your throat and tightness in our chest with both of the heartbreaking, inspiring yet realistic scenes . Are you ready to fall in love in two hours and twelve minutes, with that question every single time you didn't allow yourself to feel just because you were afraid of getting hurt, right?

The movie shows life of passion with the burn of a desire that’s untrapped.

 

I highly recommend this to everyone , after watching the film, Call Me By Your Name had me feeling a great nostalgic for an imaginary love I never had.

I give this film 9/10 ratings because it is extraordinarily beautiful cinematically, technically and artistically in all angle. All performances are exceptional that floats down in soft breeze of melancholy and grace.
