Fine Dining at Le Daniels in Fécamp, France - Amazing Presentation

in #adsactly6 years ago

While we were in France, we took the opportunity of going to a more fancy restaurant. This place had the best reviews on Tripadvisor and it wasn't even that expensive, compared to Belgian standards.

I went with the Menu Plaisir for 34 euros and chose 'Perle de poissons fumés' (pearl of smoked fish) as my entree and 'Entrecôte grillée sause camembert' (Steak with camembert sauce) is main course.

You can see my entree in the first picture, that one was very tasty! The fish was wrapped around a nicely dressed seaweed salad and accompanied by bell pepper bread and fresh yoghurt-based sauce. The little pipette had lemon juice in it.

Jeanine went for the Menu Dégustation, which was a bit more expensive at 44 euros. She picked 'Gratiné d'huitres chaud au champagne' (Oysters au gratin with champagne) for her entree and 'Tournedos de boeuf grillé' (Beef tenderloin) as her main course.

The second picture you see above is her oyster entree. Hers was a little bit more traditional looking, but she assured me that it tasted amazing.

This (above) is something we got between meals and it's called 'Trou Normande', a drink with Calvados and apple sorbet, that's supposed to give you more appetite before you start the next course. After that was gone, I got a little bit tipsy, since Calvados is a type of local apple brandy, it packed quite a punch.

It was a little bit weird to eat something sweet between the entree and main course, but there were also enough sour flavors there, that I can see it being useful for gaining more appetite.

Above you can see the difference between our two cuts of beef. Since I went with the entrecôte, I got a much thinner piece. Jeanine's tournedos was a lot bigger, but other than that our experience was quite similar. We weren't too happy with how it was cooked, because it was way too chewy and overcooked. Really weird, because the entrees were excellent.

Taste-wise they were great, but that's only one part of the equation when judging a steak. I really liked the cheese sauce, I had expected it to be very heavy, but that certainly wasn't the case.

We had both deserts and cheese platters to end our dinner. I picked something I thought was going to be small and light, panna cotta. Jeanine went with a Crème Brûllée. Both deserts were very heavy and I received an additional one with mine. After this we were absolutely stuffed.

The cheese platters was okay, we didn't really care for the salad in the middle of the plate. That was way too sour, while we're both usually fans of sour salad dressings. The cheese was excellent though.

I the end it was a pretty good meal, only a little bit bummed about the steak. I would probably go there again, but I would take another main course!

I love the slabs used to serve the food on. That is super cool The food looks so amazing. The presentation is stunning. Some of it you almost don't even want to eat. Thanks for sharing.

I'm a fan of those slabs as well, though it's not something for every day. :P

You should have asked for your steak 'blue' :) That way you can send it back for some more cooking if its not done enough!

Shame tasteem.io is gone, this would have been perfect for it.

I asked for á point, which should have been medium. Guess I'll try blue next time, I actually don't mind a fairly raw steak :)

Rather you than me on the raw stuff, the starters looked nice. Starters tend to be though.

The presentation of the food looks lovely. And what a wide range of colors, textures, and flavors!

My wife and I do not eat out at really nice restaurantes very often (and especially not with the kids), but this looks incredible.

Somewhere you would say that restaurants would know how to make the perfect steak right?

I honestly find 44 euros very cheap for that amount and quality of food that you guys had! Its always cool to go high end abroad... especially in eatern europa,..you really can have gourment food with fantastic wines for nearly nothing!

Yeah it wasn't that expensive, I think the total bill was still under 100 euros :) I usually drink beer, even in restaurants. I've noticed that more and more people have started doing that, even in France.

Looks awesome! Next time you should consider entering @steemfoodtours ;)

wow that is a LOT of food!! I remember living in france for a short time, and my host family just came with course after course... And I was under the impression that Americans were known for "eating too much" lol!

But man was the food good - and this looks amazing. I'm blown away by that "fish pearl"!

Thanks for sharing!

Ummm....here in India it is 5 am and lookin at your pics making me hungry...awsome way to serve...the exotic restaurant
