Dear Adrealm Community,

In the effort to better suit the needs of our audience and of our industry, day by day, 一天比一天, we’re focusing on optimizing our Crypto and Blockchain News, to make them stand out from the crowd (and news buzz) in order to carefully analyze the trends in the mobile advertising industry as well as in the blockchain sector.

In nuce: We have further categorized our selected array of news in different subsections, as you can well see. Our World-Wide Hot Spots unit (WWHS) has now become some sort of Word-Wide Hots Spots & Mobile Industry Trends (WWHSMIS), which maybe sounds a bit too long and chaotic, but well, isn’t the world a messy place?

The highlight of the week: A sensational news on a Ban on Airdrops in China.

Ehm… really?

China: After the ICO ban, the Airdrops one follows..are we sure?

Cointelegraph
You must live under a rock to know that ICOs have been banned in the People’s Republic of China. You may also have heard a rumour on airdrops being banned soon.

Is it true?

We looked for the official news and/or law in Chinese, and we couldn’t find anything.
We checked the report (in Chinese) linked by Cointelegraph in their article, The China Financial Stability Report 2018, and here is what we discovered.

  1. It is not an official source but a report published by China’s Central Bank.
  2. We looked into the report, and we did find a synonym (免费“赠币) for Airdrop (kongtou 空头) indeed, where airdrops are called “disguised ICOs” (Part II, Paragraph IV “Recommendations”). They are defined as illegal activities indeed but only a brief paragraph (and not even the full section) is dedicated to it. Furthermore, note that it is under “Recommendations”.

Of course, the field of cryptocurrencies remains a grey area skirting the Chinese law; nonetheless, the claim that Airdrops will soon be banned still does not represent the reality of facts.

We’re ready to change our mind as soon as we’ll see the regulation but till now, none has been issued.
