Largest ever Ganesh idol to arrive in Australia for festival
It promises to be the largest Ganesh festival ever in Australia. And with the largest ever Ganesh idol being brought in for the occasion, the United Indians of South Australia (UIOSA) says it will be a celebration of mammoth proportions.
UIOSA, an organisation formed to celebrate multiculturalism in South Australia through various festivals and cultural activities from around the world, has announced that its Arts and Cultural Ganesh Festival of SA 2018 to be held in September will be a one of its kind festival.
The 11.3 ft Ganesh idol (Australia Ċha Raja) will be on display for the public throughout the festival. The idol has been sculpted by Bagve Arts from Mumbai, known for their “Lalbag cha Raja”. It will be accentuated with decorations by Santosh Redkar.
The festival promises more than seven hours of multicultural performances over two days, from international and local talent including well-known art groups and school children.
The event will be held on Saturday 15 September, and Sunday 16 September at Angkor Hall, Parafield Garden.

- 09.00 am: Veda Chanting (151 couples)
- 10.00 am: Arrival procession with live drums
- 11.30 am: Pran-Pratishtha
- 12:30 pm: Maha-Arti followed by Maha-Prasad
- 01:30 pm: Cultural program
- 06:30 pm: Evening arti
- 07:00 pm: Community dinner—free
Day 2
- 09.00 am: Morning Arti
- 09.30: Satya-Narayan Pooja (251 couples)
- Noon : Maha-Prasad
- 12.30 pm: Cultural activities
- 05:30 pm: Arti
- 06:00 pm: Farewell procession
- 07:00 pm: Immersion with live drums
