I think that's a good point...what makes socialism appealing to people is that they point to Canada's "free health care!" or gun control appealing is "but Australia!" and never mind that there are other factors, all they drool over is the end result.
What I have noticed is that socialist drool over the fictional results they believe in and actually cannot accept when the facts show their dreams have not been made reality by their efforts. The fact of the perfection in our world is that things are not perfect and so reality requires self examination in order to grow the soul. Not being able to accept the corrections that facts can bring is proof of unconsciousness. Blind following the blind in the real world is not conducive to survival. LOL
And we see evidence of it in people's insistence on doubling down--or tripling or quadrupling or!--on failed policies. We have so many examples of failure worldwide in both socialism and Communism, millions dead, and yet people squeeze their eyes shut and ignore history in order to demand another experiment.
