Valentino Rossi failed to celebrate the 400th race with the podium achievement. Despite only finishing eighth in the Australian MotoGP, The Doctor is still Yamaha's best rider.

In the race at Phillip Island on Sunday (10/27/2019), Rossi underwent a good start. From the second row, the 40-year rider was able to poke into the first position.

Rossi can only lead the race for four laps. His position continued to decline after that, the lowest until the 10th position when the race leaves six more rounds.

At the time of finishing, Rossi was ranked eighth. Bad luck befall Rossi's teammate, Maverick Vinales. He was overtaken by Marc Marquez on the last lap, then crashed a moment later.

In the drivers' standings, Rossi is seventh with 153 points. He is 10 points from Quartararo in sixth place and 23 points from Vinales who finished fourth.
