Out and About

I was out and about recently. Here are some pictures of the downtown area.

This is the Singapore River with the Marina Bay Sands hotel in the distance.

Some buildings along the river.

Bougainvillea flowers on the ledge of the bridge. When in full bloom, these sugarly coloured flowers are a sight to behold. They are certainly a welcome distraction from all the concrete buildings.

There is a tiny park in the midst of the busy roads and buildings. I found these here - Costus woodsonii, or Red Button Ginger, or Scarlet Spiral Flag.

They called it the Parkroyal Collection. It houses the Park Royal hotel, and also the Attorney General Chambers

This is one end of the building. It is a very nice and glassy building which has won awards and praise for it energy saving designs.

This is another hotel in the area- the Furama Hotel.

the new normal SG is so much less people walking around. The only two times I set my foot in SG was taking a break from transit. Perhaps next time I should really spend a few days there ❤️

I think it is the same everywhere. :-) There is, after all, a pandemic going on. People would not want to venture out unnecessarily.

Yes, when the pandemic has settled down, you can come for a visit.

Hi Vincent,
These are really nice photographs of Singapore.
I really like the moss covering on the new structures. It's an odd appearance but somehow a pleasant one.
I wonder if the growth is intentional as decoration.
Thanks for sharing with us, enjoy the rest of your week my friend.

Hi Jake,

If I am not mistaken, that is one of the energy saving efforts. Singapore is working towards an environmental friendly buildings. So, all new buildings have some sort of energy saving features - either building materials, or designs, or roof top solar panel ... In this case, the plants will cool down the building.

You too. I hope you are having a great week.
