Smartwatches are currently popular, but some users prefer a watch in a conventional design. Why not simply combine the best of both worlds, the appearance of a watch associated with the functionality of a Smartwatch? With activist Q, Fossil now has a hybrid Smartwatch available, which we have been able to test thoroughly in recent weeks design .

Whether you believe it or not, with a watch, design is important to me. Only then do the functions come. Which brings me the best technologically better watch when it just does not work on my wrist and I do not like it visually. This is not only the case with intelligent watches, but also, of course, with mechanical watches. That's why I'm a friend of hybrid solutions. Here, the watch resembles a "normal" watch at first glance and not as a futuristic toy. Inside, however, there is an excellent technology capable of handling many tasks.

The Fossil Q Activist Hybrid Smart Watch looks like a watch at first sight. With the leather strap it looks elegant and I can wear it with leisure clothes or with business casual, everything is no problem. At first glance, you can not recognize that this is a smartwatch. And even if it does not have a display, it can still display the most important information directly through its hands on the dial - the steps taken. On the side next to the crown there are two pushbuttons which can be used for further functions, but later more.

What can this hybrid watch do? If you get a notification on the smartphone, the clock can alert by vibration. When you listen to music, you can use the clock to control the music and switch through the songs. Thanks to Q Link, you can use the clock as a remote trigger for the camera or let the smartphone ring when you have it installed in the house. Also you do not have to adjust the clock, because it simply takes the time on your smartphone, which is really very practical. And the most important function for me is the possibility to set two time zones. So you have always the local time and the time in another part of the earth at a glance.

The connection with the smartphone is made with Bluetooth 4.1 LE, a very energy-efficient connection and here comes the great advantage of the clock, because unlike smartwatches with display that needs to be recharged every day or every other day, the interchangeable battery keeps in the Q activist about half a year (depends of course also on your usage behavior). With the Companion app available on the App Store or Play Store, you can access and view the clock data. This is how you can display all the days in the overview with the respective steps. Here you can also set its day goals, normal here are 10,000 steps a day.
