Love the digital art and would love to see more. I find if there is a problem with an editing or create program it is usually a matter of disc space. Try deleting some old files and see if that helps.
I think I have plenty of disc space and I think it might have been something to do with installing a graphics program recently that messed up Photoshop. I think I need to reinstall it again but that takes effort. If it still works on my older desktop machine I might just stick to using it there. I've been mostly using GIMP these days anyway.
Does GIMP work well with Mac
I'm not sure about that. I use it under Linux and I think there is a PC version too.
