What an amazing post. I love the photos and to find out about the books and his effects on the community. That's what it always seems to come to, community. Thanks for a great post.

You're right there, except his community was a lot bigger in that he created a magical world for the family to visit in terms of the books he wrote and screenplays he was involved with! Thanks for stopping by and glad you enjoyed it :)

Thanks so much for sharing it. It is always nice to see where our favorite authors lived.

@nickyhavey,

I enjoyed the walk around Great Missenden, but more so the walk down memory lane. A bit of history adds a lot of flavor.

Thanks @quillfire mate! Yes it was a good one to randomly pick from the walking book late on Friday. Nothing says prepared like "Sh_t, meet at 11:00 tomorrow" at 22:00 the night before. That's just standard protocol these days.

The lads appreciated it which is the main thing and it did bring a smile and warmth to us as we all did a bit of "window peaking" in to the museum on the high street there. Going in to the church where he was buried was also flavoursome as the tastes of Christmas start to get stronger.

Thanks for stopping by squire.

Good on you for keeping in touch with school friends all these years.

🙂 it's always good to meet up with them. Reminisce in the good old school days, come up with wacky business ideas and joke around, long may it last!

Thanks for checking it out with us! Yea I don't really go to this place much, haven't been for a few years but actually felt the magic of this place with my friends as we ventured through the woods looking for Fantastic Mr Fox 🙂 Worth visiting

Great walk and a great number of steps you did. Those place sure do look like they can serve as inspiration and seem pretty lovely.

Thanks a lot @zen-art! Yes we worked up an appetite for sure and the woods certainly have a magical feel to them. Can see why they inspired his books 🙂

Thoroughly enjoyed the walk through the forest into the village, never got to see that when we visited. Interesting in that I have read some of the books, enjoyed Chitty Chitty Bang Bang a long time ago.

The red pump station, what a delightful heritage to see along with shops and quaint old church.

Thanks for the walk around town Nicky #steemitbloggers

Thanks for joining us on this magical walk Joan! Sorry you didn't get to see the village when you visited, I guess you were all about the music when you visited before 🙂

Toured in a Kombi camper all the way up the East Coast UK into Scotland and back down the West Coast via Wales, one month on the road, sadly never enough time to see more.

Music was in London, great time staying with friends before and after traveling around.

That still sounds like you'd have seen an awful lot of countryside though. Where were some of your highlights? 1 month sounds a lot but when you are on the road, it quickly flies by!

Amazing my Doctor friend :D

Haha thanks a lot my travel and blogging friend! 😀
