Thanks for... enlightening. I, for one, did not know anything about Memorial Day. It just sounded natural. But now I know about the date and its meaning to folks somewhere else. People who passed away and especially soldiers are also commemorated here in Bulgaria and in other Orthodox countries I suppose on Archangel Michael's Souls Day, also called Soldiers'Souls Day which this year was on the 3rd of November. I shifts and is always on Saturday. Sorry the clumsy translation of those titles.

Well we can remember all year round really but it's always a special and emotional time of year to remind ourselves that war really is terrible (yet still happens).

Each country has their own unique take on memorial day and think it's important to continue the remembrance.

Thanks for sharing information about how it is in Bulgaria.
