My Actifit Report Card: September 6th, 2018

Almost 20% of the farmland in Germany is cultivated with corn. It is mainly used as feed for cattle and pigs. During my walks and bicycle rides I always pass huge cornfields. That is simply too much. The plant variety and also the habitat of the animals is thereby substantially limited. In addition, the soil erodes faster, which can easily lead to flooding.
Fast 20% der Ackerflächen in Deutschland werden mit Mais bebaut. Er wird zum größten Teil als Futter für Rinder und Schweine verwendet. Bei meinen Spaziergängen und Radlfahrten komme ich immer an riesigen Maisfeldern vorbei. Das ist einfach zuviel. Die Pflanzenvielfalt und auch der Lebensraum der Tiere wird dadurch erheblich eingeschränkt. Zudem erodiert der Boden schneller, was leicht zu Überschwemmungen führen kann.
