The commemoration of the Prophet Muhammad SAW is routinely celebrated by the people of Aceh every year. In addition to tradition, Maulid celebration is also often used as a forum for inter-village gampong (kampong in Aceh language).

The main food served in this celebration is the gravy, the cow or goat curry, as well as the dish of other Aceh culinary.

Another uniqueness seen in this celebration is the traditions of each diverse village. Starting from the food procession to the ornamental car, before finally eating together in the field.

The festive celebration of the Prophet's Mawlid in Aceh has become a tradition. It is Sultan's Testament published on 12 Rabiul Awal 913 Hijriah or 23 July 1507, by Sultan Ali Mughayat Shah. This will was found by Tan Sri Sanusi Junid who then translated it.
