INDONESIAN CULINARY "MIE ACEH"
Mi aceh is a spicy noodle dish typical of Aceh in Indonesia. Thick yellow noodles with sliced beef, mutton or seafood (shrimp and squid) served in a savory and spicy curry soup. Acehnese noodles are usually sprinkled with fried onions and served with chips, sliced shallots, cucumber and lime.
Mie Aceh is not only served fried, but there are also other aceh noodles, namely Mie Aceh Kuah and Mie Aceh Goreng Basah. Both are added broth in the cooking process. The difference is in the amount of broth used, whereas wet fried noodles use less broth.
The main difference between Mie Aceh and noodle dishes from other regions lies in the sharper and richer blend of spices. The main composition of the spices in Mie Aceh is red chili, turmeric, cumin, cardamom, pepper and garlic.
One of the most delicious Aceh Noodles is in Aceh Tamiang, to be precise at a shop called "Mie Fahrol".
Here besides noodles with beef, there are many choices of seafood including shrimp, clams, squid, crab. There is even a choice of Crab laying eggs. The texture of the noodles, which are chewy with a thick sauce, makes the taste of Aceh Fahrol Noodles much in demand by people. In addition, the portion served is also quite large at a very affordable price.
