Traditional house of Gayo

The Gayo is a tribe that inhabited the central highlands in the middle of Aceh, Sumatra, with a vast lake which is very beautiful.
This traditional house called "Umah Edet Pitu Ruang", was made from wood that chosen, measuring 9 meters long and 12 meters wide. This house is the home stage with five steps, facing north, and is a historical heritages.
While inside there are four rooms. In addition to the four rooms, two porches or free space in the east and the west. All connections wearing distinctive characteristics using wooden pegs. Almost all parts of the worn side openwork carvings sculpted, with various motives, such as cycle rope and so on. In the middle there is a carving shaped openwork carving chicken and fish which symbolizes the glory and prosperity. While carving the dragon is a symbol of strength, power and charisma.
This house according to the local information is the property of Reje Baluntara (king of the jungle). Because, he was a king who also mastered the forest in the region in ancient times.
Well, the house is now in poor condition maintained.
