The umbrella bride; traditional handicrafts from South Aceh, Sumatra
As the saying goes popular in most societies in Asia Tenggara, are: while a wedding, it means to be king and queen of the day. Therefore, when the groom or the bride escorted home to their spouse as the traditional customs in the community in Aceh, they shielded like kings and queens with beautiful umbrellas that have been made specifically for it.
An umbrella that we see here is the handcrafted of an artist in South Aceh. This yellow umbrellas decorated with imitations gold and embroidered motifs was made from golden threads. One of the most main motif called "Pinto Aceh" motif (the Aceh door motif), and this motif is very popular there.
