Pisang Wak
Musa acuminata is one of the earliest plants to be domesticated by humans for agriculture. Wikipedia
In Aceh, this banana called a "pisang wak", in Thailand called "kluai nam wa", in Cambodia: "chek nam va", the Malay people call it "pisang awak". Many research institutions call it the "pisang awak". Scientific name: Musa acuminata and Musa balbisiana (See: Wikipedia).
I believe "nam wa" is derived from the Khmer language. Wak, Wa, Awak, phonetically close together, which indicates the name is derived from the Khmer.
We, here, are fed with this banana, since infancy, grinded with rice. This banana is a banana the most widely and commonly grown here. Besides edible fruit ripe, can also be fried with flour, or also dried and smoked. We call this latter: "pisang salai" (smoked banana).
Bananas besides sweet and tasty, is also rich in vitamins and minerals. Beneficial to the health of the stomach and can overcome the problem of defecation. A scientific paper outlining the vitamin and mineral content in "pisang wak" as follows:
The content of vitamins
Vitamin A by 144 IU
Vitamin C by 19.6 mg
Folate (important during pregnancy) is 45 mcg
Vitamin B6 was 82 mcg
Niacin 1.49 mg
Pantothenic Acid by 31 mg
Vitamin E by 22 IU
The mineral content in bananas
Potassium of 806 mg
Magnesium by 61 mg
Phosphorus 50 mg
Calcium by 11 mg
Iron is 58 mg
I took this picture when the banana, almost ripe, in the trunk. The tree is getting harder, and leaning to road.
