From Mexico to Aceh

in #aceh7 years ago

Most people in Aceh call these flowers: "bungong seurune" (flute flowers). Some call it: bungong ek manok (chicken shit flowers), because the smell of flowers was not so good, according to some people. It is one of marigolds or in its scientific name: Tagetes erecta.

Wikipedia:

Tagetes erecta, the Mexican marigold, also called Aztec marigold, is a species of the genus Tagetes native to Mexico.

There are two things about this flower, in my experience: first, this flower was not liked by mosquitoes, so therefore, this flower is good to be planted around the house, in addition to beautiful flowers for decoration, the usefulness also to repel mosquitoes naturally. Secondly, when we were kids, if we feel flatulent, heartburn or stomach pain, our parents took the leaves of the plant's flowers, squeezed it, then wiped the oil and leaves have been crushed, to our bellies. We, then, feel warm and cozy.

And the scientists have mentioned a variety of other benefits of this plant for health.
