Capli Buta: Pepper for Treatment
It is a relative of the pepper (Piper nigrum), and one climbing herb that grows in the ground, but the stem attached to the stems of other plants with roots adhesion. Acehnese people call it "Capli Buta". Its scientific name: Piper retrofractum Vahl.
The leaves of this plant, similar with a betel leaf, heart-shaped with a width of 6-10 cm. and the length between 9-13 cm. But, the surface of the leaf of Caplibuta little squiggly, not slippery like betel leaf surface.
The fruits of caplibuta, in fact, similar with the pepper, consists of granules attached to the stalk. But caplibuta fruit granules fused to appear only as one whole fruit, 1 cm in diameter, with a length of 5 cm. Caplibuta fruit is green and will turn red when fully ripe. Fruit-eating birds like the seeds of this spice plants. After fermented in the stomach of birds, the seeds will be removed intact, and grow in a location away from their original location.
In Bangladesh:
The plant is used to cure rheumatic pain and body pain after childbirth. Fruits are stimulant, carminative, anthelmintic and expectorant; used in cough, cold, asthma, bronchitis, fever, piles and in hemorrhoidal affections; they improve appetite and taste. The root is alexiteric; useful in asthma, bronchitis and consumption (Yusuf et al. 2009). (Source)
People on the island of Java, Indonesia, using caplibuta for making herbal medicine, and therefore the planting caplibuta has an important economic value even though the people of Aceh are not using it.

cocok jih capli puta, tapi hoem, bak sang hie teudeungo geukheun2 capli buta... ma daripada nan jih cabe jawa atau cabe jamu, ka keuh jeut capli buta manteng haha..
