Malahayati port is believed to have existed since the time of Sultan Iskandar Muda, but the place is not exactly in position (port) today.

Malahayati port has always been in the merchant trade from China which later became known as Lamwuli. The purpose is the Kingdom of Lamuri which is located not far from the position of Malahayati Port today.

Lamuri is one of the kingdoms in Aceh are still patterned Hindu culture. This kingdom then changed into the kingdom of Aceh Darussalam after the last king embraced Islam. The royal center of Lamuri which was originally located in Krueng Raya was moved to the edge of Krueng Aceh estuary.

In the Ming Dynasty records on Aceh cited Denys Lombard in his book the kingdom of Aceh. The time of Sultan Iskandar Muda, the Chinese often visit Lamuri to trade the stones of Mulia, agate, crystal, indigo and others.

The mention of Lamuri later changed to Lamreh. The old port was then taken over by PT Pelindo in 1970. This port has also been one of the transit ports to the island of Sabang in the era of 80s.
