Irrigation has become the first reason why we still get fresh fruits and vegetables
Irrigation is the foundation of the country to be advanced
Irrigation is an effort in providing and regulating water from rivers or from other water sources to be fed to rice fields and smallholder agriculture for agricultural needs and support.
The source of irrigation water is from:
- River water
- From a mountain spring.
- From Traditional wells
- from the Bor well
- From Swamp.
- From the collected rainwater.
Water as a source of life
God provides water as an element of life needed by humans, plants, soil, and animals.
Land is in dire need of water to sustain life on earth.
Almost all life on earth needs water, even stones.
Then irrigation is needed by citizens to realize nutritious food for humans.
Soil degradation will be realized by the presence of water as the main support for this.
Definition of Irrigation
After we read the few sentences above, we can conclude that irrigation means flowing water artificially (human intervention) from the available water source in agricultural land to a plot of agricultural land to meet the needs of plants in water.
With irrigation, the water flows regularly and in accordance with the wishes of farmers.
Humans have used irrigation techniques since ancient Egypt to support agriculture in the barren region of Egypt.
So with the irrigation system, the welfare of the population and food insecurity will be stable and there will be no mass hunger.
The provision of efficient irrigation water other than influenced by the procedure of irrigation application is also determined by the need for water to achieve the available water conditions as needed by the plant.
Irrigation has been the existing from the olden days.
That makes us to have fresh vegetable during dry season in Africa .
