May Day, Laborers in Aceh Deliver Demands While Convoy

Banda Aceh - The mass of workers in Aceh held May Day action with a convoy circling a number of protocol streets in Banda Aceh. They also speak in front of the Baiturrahman Great Mosque and the House of Representatives of Aceh (DPRA).

A number of two-wheeled vehicles, four wheels and trucks are used for convoys. While walking to a number of protocol streets, they also convey 'unek-unek' in turn. The action participants also carry a loudspeaker.

The mass action of laborers from various regions in Aceh was escorted by the police. These law enforcement officers walked in front of the convoy by riding a dirt bike. Upon arriving at the council building, they were also directed to enter the yard immediately.

Chairman of the Alliance of Workers of Aceh, Saifulmar, said, in action May Day this time, workers in Aceh asked the government to raise Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) of Rp 650 thousand. With this increase, the Aceh UMP in 2018 to Rp 3,150,000.

"Inevitably, happy to be unhappy is the demands of the workers," Saiful told reporters on the sidelines of the action.

In addition, laborers in Aceh also demanded the government to immediately issue a governor regulation (Pergub) that regulates dayday allowances. The reason, in Aceh has a tradition meugang that was held two days before Ramadan.

"It's getting close to fasting, we really expect the government to issue a gubernatorial regulation on meugang allowance," said Saiful.

In today's action, the mass of workers also submits a number of other demands either nationally or even to Aceh. They also expect the Provincial Government to allow the regulation on six months' leave for pregnant women to be implemented in all agencies and companies.
