tonight I want to posting about Teuku Umar the hero of Aceh
Teuku Umar was born in 1854 in Meulaboh, Aceh Barat, Indonesia. He was one of the national heroes who had led the guerrilla war in Aceh from 1873 to 1899. Teuku Umar's grandfather was a descendant of Minangkabau, the Datuk Makdum Sati who once rendered the Sultan of Aceh.

The Dutch had reconciled with the troops of Teuku Umar in 1883. One year later, in 1884, a war broke out between the two. In 1893, Teuku Umar then sought a strategy of how he could obtain weapons from the enemy (the Netherlands). Finally, Teuku Umar pretended to be a Dutch henchman. His wife, Cut Nyak Dien had once confused, embarrassed, and angry at her husband's decision. Governor Van Teijn at that time also intended to use Teuku Umar as a way to win the hearts of the people of Aceh. Teuku Umar then entered military service. On this engagement, on January 1, 1894, Teuku Umar was awarded the title of Johan Pahlawan and allowed to form a legion of his own army of 250 soldiers with complete weapons.
On March 30, 1896, Teuku Umar went out of the Dutch military service with his troops with 800 weapons, 25,000 bullets, 500 kg of ammunition and 18,000 dollars. With increasing power, Teuku Umar along with 15 people turned back to defend the people of Aceh. The strategy and a very shrewd war strategy is intended to fool the Dutch power at that time which is very strong and very difficult to conquer. At that time, the struggle of Teuku Umar received support from Teuku Panglima Polem Muhammad Daud who along with 400 people joined the Dutch attack. In the battle, as many as 25 people were killed and 190 were wounded on the Dutch side.

Governor Deykerhorf feels hurt by the tactics of Teuku Umar. Van Heutsz was ordered to deploy troops on a large scale to capture Teuku Umar. A sudden attack on the Melaboh area caused Teuku Umar to be shot and killed in the battlefield, namely in Kampung Mugo, inland Meulaboh on February 10, 1899.
