Ghanaian workers are about to recieve a 10% annual salary increase but some argu that is far too little since their Members of Parliament and other high government workers who get enormous sums and are even double paid. Although it is evident that officials have been lining their own pockets for decades it seems some are supporting a change.

According to Augustine Michael Owusu, the current situation where politicians receive huge end-of-service benefits which cause the average hardworking Ghanaian to recieve less must end. Fair end-of-service benefits are consisered the right of workers but has been kept from them for years.

These workers demonstrating dedication to all sitting governments regardless of politics , yet they are treated unfairly, being paid pittances and living in poverty or surviving on bad loans and bank overdrafts. Meanwhile their bosses get cushy salaries for often inept and corrupt work. Ghana's currently investigsting almost 30 years of double payments to members of parliament and other high ranking officials.

This nation is handicapped by the untrustworthy but there are some who work hard to expose such issues wothin our society. It will take us informing the community on these issues to really begin making a difference. As technology advances so too do the people who have access. Being informed about both the good and bad of your governent will help us keep them accountable.

African nations experience brain drain largely because they are not providing employment prospects with sufficient income to their graduates especially those who study abroad. Currently the aversge Ghanaian lives on less than $2500 a year or just over 11,000 GHC. Such an income is unacceptable for individuals trying to build families and save money to build financial sustainability.

Meanwhile according to [the bbc] the president's monthly salary is more than $6,357, which is also tax free. Ministers receive around $4,770 USD plus benefits such of two cars, a free house with full staff and an entertainment allowance. MPs' salaries have are around $3,800 a month. This disparity is the trademarke of former colonies and symbolizes the fact that the colonizers still rule through bigmen.

Stay tuned for deepeer analysis and some investigative journalism on the subject of disparities between us and those we place in power.
