We Can Officially Lay the "Kindly Whale" Story to Rest

I cannot control who @ranchorelaxo votes for.

-@haejin

I found this on https://steemworld.org/@ranchorelaxo from July 20th, and it seems, that yes @haejin, you can very much control who @ranchorelaxo votes for.

Oops, accidentally commented with my other account! Better delete that.

And then re-write the comment on my main account.

It seems " @ranchorelaxo " ;) Was very generous that day. Gave " @starjuno " (another highly suspected @haejin controlled account) 2 100% upvotes, WOW! What a guy :) Let's see the comments...

Oh, look at that, the comments were 6 days old when he voted on them. Nice one!

But the Kindly Whale Doesn't Stop There Folks!

His generosity truly knows no bounds. He's been upvoting @haejin's old comments too. What a terrific Steemian!

I noticed this happening last week, flagged a few of them with my "spitballs" as FT would say :)

To End

Absolutely @haejin has every freedom to do with his stake what he likes, and absolutely we have every freedom to say we don't like it. Adjusting the potential rewards through flagging is another way we can disagree, we have a 7 day window on each over inflated post and comment to do that.

I look forward to the day where flagging is normalized. I think that day is coming soon. If you'd like to learn a bit about flagging and reward pool myths watch the video below.

Thanks! This is more fuel to the fire to continue developing the countermeasures and building support. I do not think the war is by any means over. It's just become a bit of a cold war if you will.

@tufkat has really stuck with it and feel like we just might be giving @haejin a bit too much room to breathe and build counters to the countermeasures. We already know @starjuno is his flagging account.

TL;DR: It's time to get more busy than @haejin to be prepared for things to come imho.

Nice work finding this out! And awesome explaination about the reward pool for the people who don't understand!

Man I hate it when that happens.

I'm not surprised at all, but it was some great detective work. Thanks for sharing!

I'll never understand why some people can't be honest about certain things. Like this for instance. It's his account, or at least, he has access too it. - It's not that big of a deal, especially since he's been supporting himself over and over using the ranco-account already... So why try to hide it? - Looks weak and weird to me.

On the other hand, I'm far from being a greedy and selfish whale too, so perhaps I don't know what I'm talking about.

The blunder of having alt accounts. Mistakes will surely happen!

STINC should just get rid of comment upvotes. Or cap the value at 0.20 for rewarding good behavior by "tipping". Isn't that what we do in the real world? We tip 20% for a job well done. Any bigger tip value can simply go to the quality post.

There is simply too much abuse with comment upvotes. @v4vapid wrote a post on a different group of people abusing the comment rewards. What monetary value in abuse will it take for STINC to take notice? $1 on comment upvotes? $6? Or as exampled above, an average of $85?

Yeah but then they would just make like 20 shitposts a day instead of shit comments lol :)

People will find a way to game the system. Sad reality of it on here. I will upvote your comment too, just in case the flagging war continues. (I hope not though)

25 days so far since this:

It was late last night when I replied to this comment. Mommy exhaustion and neglected to thank you and hendrix as well for all your efforts. I know you both were heavily involved with fighting the abuse. I do hope the truce continues.

Also would hope comment abuse would stop as well. I agree with some other comments that it is their stake and they can choose to do as they wish, but if everyone takes this path of rewarding, then how are we supposed to market steem to the population: "Invest your retirement savings in STEEM. All you have to do is write one or two sentences in a comment, and you are guaranteed a 150% interest ROI!" Sooner or later, the system will unravel and be known as the pyramid scheme of history.

Yes, if everyone treated this place like they do, STEEM would be worth 1 cent.

My feeling is that an anonymous decentralized CAPCHA system needs be designed, to be offered as a tool for SMT distributors at the least.

The idea was explored in an old blog post of.mine, whose link follows for your reading pleasure. 😎

If flagging starts again as a result of this post, well, that would just impede on freedom of speech. Let's hope 25 days will turn into 25 months @lyndsaybowes. Definitely appreciate FTG and his efforts to protect and promote the platform!

·
·

The 4 post soft cap was removed why?
Oh yeah, to facilitate this abuse.
All hail, stinc!

·
·
·

My understanding is because if there's a 4 post cap then people just go around it by having more accounts. Or just upvote their own comments to the moon as well.

Still, it was an added hurdle.

What a loser! On another note, thanks for breaking down some rewards pool stuff for me in that video. I don't watch the statistical side of things too religiously here yet so it helps to have things just simply explained to me before I even really wonder about them, haha :)

The solution to your problem is holding more SP to have more control over payouts.

·

Yeah, like @doctorspence and Paris Hilton say ... Stop Being Poor!

;)

I'm trying :)

just steeming my way through the maze

yes.... i have been saying this for months.... that whale is haejin

But so what? He bought STEEM and controls the stake that he bought with his own money.

I don't like him personally due to his childish reaction to getting flagged (the flaggers also control the stake they own) but I don't see a problem with the fact that he uses his stake.

I agree with the normalization of flagging, though. That would make the platform a lot better.

·

But so what?

I'm not asking you to care.

Good to see you here though @schattenjaeger, I've admired you from a distance :) I like your shoot from the hip style.

Some people have the ability to help, others such as myself (at such a low level with no real investment) cant do a damn thing. Any flag I could present would be too tiny, any flag I received would be devastating to the point where there is no point to having an account anymore.

·

what @doctorspence says above is the truth. Only a collection of folks with Game changing SP can do anything about this. Unless there is someone with a flagging trail (is this a real thing? could it be?)

Omg it is true

BAM! Nice detective work!

·

Bwa hahahaaa just #steemworld :)

Naked greed. I wish something could be done about this guy.

Fantastic post friend

That video was incredibly inspiring. Thank you for the wisdom and tough love.

I don't think there was ever any doubt that Haejin controlled ranchorelaxo or the starjuno accounts. I used to fight this sort of thing, but at the end of the day Haejin paid for/earned his STEEM and given this place is a true democracy, he can do whatever he likes even if it comes at the cost of disadvantaging and taking from others, it's a victimless crime.

The day I stopped worrying about what Haejin and other users were doing, the better things were for me on Steem. I've been involved and caught in the middle of this nonsense with whales and it just doesn't work when you fight them sadly, lowly reputation users always get the sharp end of the stick.

·

true democracy? you mean true capitalism.

democracy is where every vote has the same value, it's like totally the opposite here.. ;-)

·
·

true democracy? you mean true capitalism.

Technically democracy and capitalism are not comparable to one another, one is a form of government and ruling style, the other is a type of economic system.

The Steem brand is owned by Steemit Inc, but the Steem blockchain itself is decentralised and run by the witnesses. Steemit inc couldn't shut down the blockchain nor do they control it, the steemit.com website could be shut down, but you could just use busy or the trove of other UI's.

Capitalism is based on the concept of privatisation and and a free market. Given that witnesses are elected by anyone with a Steem account who casts a vote, that's democracy. Those in charge of maintaining the Steem blockchain are elected by everyone.

Make no mistake, this is a democracy in terms of how things are run governance wise. If you're talking economically, well that's a different story for sure.

·
·
·

Nicely put.

·

This type of work is not for everybody that's for sure.

at the end of the day Haejin paid for/earned his STEEM and given this place is a true democracy, he can do whatever he likes.

You are correct. And we can do as we like, which is disagree with the potential rewards.

·

Well the beauty is that we also can do whatever we like with our SP.
So if someone flags haejin, they are only using their "true democracy" :)

They day we stop worrying about other users is the day the dream dies and everything falls into ruin.
