RE: How to attract and retain new users to steemit? A red fish's opinion.

in #abuse6 years ago

Interesting points.

Sometimes we are so use to other platforms, steem seems like a different and unfamiliar place.

But the reality is, if you're on twitter or Facebook and posting all day long. You're not going to make a penny. So steem is better, but there's no free lunch.

When I joined twitter, I had to make an effort to create my own network, find people to follow and engage with my followers. Maybe that was a good training ground for steem.

Unlike Facebook where you can just turn up and have your current social network replicated, steem, like twitter, requires effort and engagement.

There is no silver bullet. We all need to act together to make steem a better place to be.

Think of it this way, how many other blockchains actually has a real user base and not just speculation? Just for a few bits of content, you're earning steem which if you power up, you can have a bigger say on who gets a payout.

I agree with all your points. I am not of the opinion steemit is a bad site. However, I wanted to write about what i had read lately, which was to make this awesome site more awesome.

There's no denying there are payouts, and that's why i think the USP to attract new users is there. forget content, even if one comments, there's a payout so steemit is a game changer. Also agree, that we have a fully functional blockchain with daily active users.

However the above positives, cannot cover the negatives. Knowing that there are all these positives, how does one tackle what may be impediments to future growth.

i see you are at 41. given that there are 5 days to go, I will probably lose the contest.

I do like the way comments can get rewarded. Maybe a trending page based on comments and value of votes on comments would be interesting!

As for the reputation score, I am not counting my chickens just yet. Did my daily @flagtarget flags... So who knows what will happen!

That's also a very good idea. May be that ways users can get to interesting content, since usually on paid content, comments rarely get upvoted.

Haha, yeah, he will first finish his posts, then start flagging.

I think comments should automatically earn some amount of SP. Additionally, I feel that comments that are upvoted by the OP should get greater portions of the curation.

I don't know why but i seem to be missing out on comments, did not realize you commented till i just randomly decided to view the post again in detail.

I dont know if all comments can earn SP, specially ones that are 0 effort. Or yeah may be link this to what you also suggested, if the author upvotes then automatically give 1 cent worth of SP. Definitely an idea worth looking into.

Now i know, your comment was a direct reply to kabir's which is why i didn't realize.
