About me: a solo female thru-hiker
Hello Steem! My name is Abby, I’m 19 and I live in Scotland. I’m starting this blog to document and share my preparations for solo thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail starting in March 2018. I want to share everything from my personal gear picks, worries and thoughts to more general info and FAQs surrounding the trail and hiking in general.
The Appalachian Trail (AT) is an approximately 2,200 mile hiking trail from the summit of Springer Mountain in Georgia to the summit of Mt. Katahdin, 14 states away, in Maine. The trail takes between 5 and 6 months to hike in it’s entirety – or ‘thru-hike’ – and this is exactly what I am planning to accomplish.
It’s going to be an interesting journey and I’m excited to be sharing it with the Steem community!
