August Monthly Update #5 August 2020
July has been an emotional rollercoaster for the Abosom project with 1 significant issue
Firstly we were finally added to our first multicoin mobile wallet, this was a significant step forward for our user base, which we decided should be even more important than adding liquidity to our decentralised exchange BlockDX.
The Harcomia integration was covered in greater detail in our recent press release and we are extremely proud to be hosted on this up and coming wallet, we have to thank Discord user and Harcomia Stalwart Wily in particular as he has been an amazing help throughout the process. The second major update we have is that we have started working on our very first desktop light wallet, which will be a fork of Electrum and has been undertaken by talented Developer AhmedBodi, It's worth noting that Ahmed is something of an Electrum connosiur working within his own dedicated repo, he is working towards bringing true multicoin capabilities to Bitcoin style cryptos in an affordable and realistic package. We greatly appreciate having Ahmed around the project as he has already proven to be an invaluable asset. We are expecting the Abosom Electrum light wallet to be complete within the next 1-2 months and will be available to download from our own Github repo and Gitlab if/when we start to host them. This brings us on nicely to our biggest issue of the month, and it involves HD wallet functionality. It seems that the original developer of the Abosom network neglected to add the functionality. It was always decided that it would be switched off by default but a Critical bug was found within the codebase by a Developer and he let Ahmed Bodi know. We are extremely grateful that Ahmed used the correct and responsible disclosure practices, it is a testement to his integrity. we set about immediately designing a fix and recieved plenty of support from well know developers including AkshayNexus who has been a PIVX and Ghost contributer and is well respected within crypto development circles. We would like to donate a reward to these guys and we have already agreed a bounty for Ahmedbodi and his friend who wishes to stay anonymous. We are looking at a fix which was supplied within hours by the original dev and hopefully we can have that implemented within the next month.
This does however mean that Abosom will likely move to 1.1.0 soon as we see this update as being preferably mandatory, so please keep informed of what this will mean for you and be ready to update to the latest version as and when it is released.
This month we had the brainwave of allowing our community members to vote using the masternodes that we own, we will document the process properly soon, but this should allow people to have a say in the futures of projects like Dash and PIVX without actually owning a masternode in those projects which at the time of writing cost 90,000USD and 4,500USD respectively. We feel that this will foster the adoption and interest in DAOs like our own and will bring crypto focused eyes to the Abosom project also. we don't yet have a name for this initiative and we are unusure of which projects to buy masternodes in so please join our discord(link) and make your opinion known. We aim to collect votes by allowing ANYBODY to to cast a vote in Discord by simply clicking thumbs up or down or a ? to abstain, we will also ask the question about the particular proposal on our twitter and via whatever platform we decide to use as a forums, currently its looking most likely that we will do this on HIVE.
Our next multiwallet integrations that we are pushing for are within FlareWallet and Flitsnode, we will update on the progress of those within the next month.
Finally we are startng a series of video tutorials to explain the key features of Abosom, we are aiming this series at absolute beginners, so please jump into our discord to help us create the script for this.
