Today's election in Virginia is critical for abortion access in Virginia and much of the South.

Virginia currently allows abortion up to 26 weeks. If Republicans take both chambers, Youngkin intends at the very least to enact a 15 week abortion ban. North Carolina Republicans recently enacted a 12 week abortion ban over the governor's veto. Likewise Florida enacted a 6 week abortion ban that is currently being litigated. So Virginia may very well become the last remaining place with broad abortion access in the South.

The burden on abortion clinics in both Virginia and Florida right now is enormous as they service people from the South. Especially as North Carolina has seen its abortion access curtailed.
