A response to: Abortion my body my choice @msgivings

Someone here defined I quote “biological individual begins with the fusion of nuclei of male and female gametes and formation of a kernel, containing unique genetic material.” I think this is a great definition. Right from the moment of conception a new organism is not a part of mother’s body. Consequently, by ending this life she’s committing a murder. I think though not everything is that cut and dry.  Let’s say this is a mother of a future Vlad Dracula, Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, Idi Amin and the other gentlemen and ladies from the list of the 25 Most Evil People in History. Let’s also assume their mothers would know what would happen with the piece of protoplasm currently located in her uterus. I think, in this case, abortion would be a preferred option. 

Certainly, these are the extreme cases. Yet it underlines the idea that life in itself is not always a desirable but a conditional outcome. The responsibility that a future mother has at this fork in the road is not only for the life of her own baby, but for the lives of hundreds or, in some cases, millions of people that this fetus of hers could effect when he or she grows to be an adult. Then again how could she know that that moment that a new Caligula or Attila will come out of her loins? I think she should rely on some common sense and statistics. 

I am not a statistics expert, but that’s what I got from the office of justice programs.    

The Journal of Research in Crime and Delinquency reports that the 
most reliable indicator of violent crime in a community is the proportion of 
fatherless families. Fathers typically offer economic stability, a role model for boys, 
greater household security, and reduced stress for mothers. This is especially true 
for families with adolescent boys, the most crime-prone cohort. Children from 
single-parent families are more prone than children  from two-parent families to 
use drugs, be gang members, be expelled from school, be committed 
to reform institutions, and become juvenile murderers. Single parenthood 
inevitably reduces the amount of time a child has in interaction with someone 
who is attentive to the child's needs, including the provision of moral guidance 
and discipline. According to a 1993 Metropolitan Life Survey, "Violence in 
America's Public Schools," 71 percent of teachers and 90 percent of law 
enforcement officials state that the lack of parental supervision at home is 
a major factor that contributes to the violence in schools. Sixty-one percent 
of elementary students and 76 percent of secondary children agree with this 
assessment.

So chances are that if a woman gives a birth to a child and then have to work two jobs and not see her child most of the time, this used to be a precious fetus that she preserved, would go ahead and steal, rob, rape of end someone else’s life. This is not a guarantee, but a good percent probability.  Therefore, a woman who just got pregnant has to think really hard of whether she could pull it off. In the end criteria, she has to answer not only for this little piece of protoplasm in her belly but also for all these people, whose lives could be violated or ended when this person to be in her gut will grow up.
