Although the film has been released for around 30 years, this beautiful and sad love fairy tale still touches many audiences. Actually this movie is as same age as mine. When I was watching this movie, I really feel attached. “Edward Scissorhands" tells a sales lady, whose name is Peg Boggs, inadvertently broke into the castle and met Edward who lives there and accidently took him home. The most interesting part is that Edward fell in love with Peg's beautiful daughter Kim Boggs. However, Edward is very special because he is kinda of robot with a pair of scissors. Moreover, he is always in the unfinished state and he is always under manufactured. Especially, his pair of scissors are still unfinished.

Although Edward loves Kim Boggs very much, Kim Boggs has her own boyfriend already. Her boyfriend’s name is Jim, who uses his efforts to stop Edward to love his girlfriend, Kim Boggs. Finally Edward feels very sad because he cannot fall in love his favorite girl. Then he returns to the castle and continue his lonely life for himself. Moreover, the image of the pair of scissors through the story truly give the film a special meaning.

This movie is not as perfect as a typical fairy tale. On the contrary, the film is full of dark atmosphere, dark scenes, unexpected storylines, and some weird heroes, but it is these seemingly ambiguous visual effects and strange colors that give us unexpected feelings.

In this struggle between conflict and anti-conflict, both Edward and Kim Boggs shows us the process of individuals gradually understanding themselves. What’s more, Kim Boggs’ boyfriend Jim also faces the same situation. All of them are constantly searching for themselves, discovering themselves, and transcending themselves through the entire movie. Although Edward did not get the happiness he needed after facing the predicament, he luckily found the value of his existence being as an stranger in others’ eyes. All in all, this movie is really a great movie for those who are looking for themselves.
