When's the next part of the Pacific Rim series coming?

The 2nd part Pacific Rim 2: Uprising ended with the realization that Dr. Newton Geiszler has been under the influence of the Kaiju since part 1. Jake Pentecost replies: "Next time we'll come to you." This dialogue is fundamentally a continuation, but when will it come?

With this conclusion, the way has been paved for a continuation.

Director Steven DeKnight explained that there are basic ideas about the content and production of Pacific Rim 3:
„I can't reveal any details, but yes, I have a very clear vision. When we were working on "Uprising," I kept taking notes about what I wanted to do for the next movie. So I have a very, very rough overview of what this film would be. And the plan was always to shoot the third part and at the end of this movie expand the universe into a Star Wars / Star Trek where it could go in many different directions. Different stories, main canon, side stories, standalones, the whole thing."
