Synopsis
When the joy of a blind man gets destroyed, he embarks on a journey of revenge....blind to mercy
The movie revolves around Rohan Bhatnagar, a young, simple man who was blind from birth. Already accepted his fate, he works as a voice over artist, living his life a day at a time without needing anyone's pity. Through a friend he met Supriya, a young beautiful lady who was also blind, after which they fall in love and got married. However, living a life of romance and the satisfaction of been there for each other did not last for long. Their lives were turned upside down when some goons due to a little clash with the couple decided to make an example of Roshan's wife by sexually harassing her. To make matter's interesting one of this thugs is a brother to a politician.
How would a blind couple convince the police of what was done and point out who the culprit is?
Kaabil takes us through the journey of a blind man actions in doing what the Law could not do. After been pushed to the wall, he is only left with an option, which is to exact revenge on those who destroyed his home at any cost. For me I was so pained while I watched this movie, for a blind couple to go to the police station to report a crime is one thing but for the police men to know the thugs involved and not arresting them is something else. Which is all thanks to the connection of these criminals to someone in authority.
The movie can be well related to the real world where those in higher ranks, authority or level tend to trample on the lower class. It depicts a world where the rich can do away with anything as they believe they are above the law. Thereby resorting to people exacting revenge by themselves with the believe that the law would make no difference, if anything it would only benefit the high and mighty. It also shows the corruption in relating to officers of the law who when bribed are like dogs with a leash on their neck, they only answer to the one with the bone. The second half of the movie covers Roshan's revenge execution. Being blind did not stop him from giving those in question what they deserve, even the police could not save them from his wrath.
Kaabil is an emotional and touching movie that keeps you feeling all teary for both leads. I mean the way tragedy hits them makes you pity them, I even began to blame them for getting married since they were both blind. Credit to Hrithik Roshan whose strong acting can not be missed. Performing as a blind man was a different ball game entirely but he pulled it off amazingly well, you could feel his emotions like it was real. His action parts did not also disappoint, being able to act blind while fighting deserves accolades. Have always been a fan and he never disappoints, he makes use of his screen time so well. His performance here reminds me of one of his movie Agneepath, you just keep cheering for him to win. Yami Gautam also gave a good performance as Supriya, it is not an easy act taking on the role of a blind woman but she delivered it well. They both complimented each other in their acts, plus they had nice chemistry together on screen.
I almost cried in some of the scenes in the movie, I felt for the couple like I was there on screen. Through this movie I learnt that not everyone can go through some certain things in life, trying not to give out any spoilers now, for some people out there, there are things worse than death. The movie would keep you on your seat, not curious about what is going to happen because the story is predictable but curious about this....
How would a blind man exact his revenge on people who can see? Funny right?
It is a movie that is worth the watch, so guys if you looking to see a movie you can put this up on your watch list.
