A couple of days ago I told you that I loved the world of superheroes, I consume everything related to the world of superheroes, and Supergirl is one of those contents that despite starting very weak was consolidated among my favorite series today.

The series that was originally intended to be an alternative to male superheroes, became stronger and evolved into a more dramatic and intense series, with really exciting performances and moments.

Taking advantage of the fact that the new season just opened, I want to share my opinion of the first chapter.

Supergirl - Event Horizon (S05E01)

The cousin of the Man of Steel and one of the most powerful women in the universe returns to continue protecting the world from all kinds of threats, this time tormented by the secret she keeps from Lena, a secret that is threatening her friendship with Lena Luthor, yes a Luthor who apparently is not evil, but rather distrustful and vindictive. A Lena Luthor who secretly already knows the true identity of supergirl and who is seriously upset by the fact that who she considers her best friend hid something so serious.

The chapter puts us in a readjustment dynamic where all the friends and members of the supergirl team will have to face a new villain who comes to hunt J'onn J'onzz, a villain who was freed from the phantom zone by the supposed Brother of the Martian Manhunter. This is really cool because let's remember that this supposed brother of J'onn J'onzz was brought into the universe by the Monitor, a character who arrived a couple of seasons ago to destabilize the whole CW superhero universe.

The plot of this chapter manages to canalize perfectly the anger of Lena, who is disappointed of Kara, a disappointment and anger that are going for a path of revenge. We can see how Lena is putting together a subtle long-term revenge plan against Supergirl, but we can also see how Lena is tormented and doubtful about whether to execute it or not, and more when in the middle of an award Kara arms herself with courage and tells her the long-awaited secret, "I am Supergirl, Lena".

From there Lena pauses all plans against Kara and decides to play a long game, where anything can happen. At the same time and in the middle of this drama between Lena and Kara we see how J'onn meets his brother, confronting him and asking him who the hell he is because he doesn't know him.

A good chapter that like the Flash chapter is preparing the ground for the main plot, but above all for the great conflict that will shake the whole universe of CW superheroes, Crisis in infinite lands.
