[AAA Chapters Review] Love, Death & Robots: ICE AGE

in #aaa5 years ago

I had some time without going into Netflix original series world, lately HBO and its fantastic series have been occupying all my time, however today I had some free time and wanted to see something light and that could finish today, something entertaining but not very intense and I got it.

Love, Death & Robots.

Love, Death & Robots is a series developed to highlight all the popular and somewhat terrifying aspects of science fiction, the series works in separate like Black Mirror (maybe that's why I like it so much), that is to say that it doesn't follow a constant plot thread that unites the whole series, and don't misinterpret the series it is congruent and works as a whole, only that the stories are independent but always finding a point that unites them; technology, science fiction, terror and all kinds of popular themes are shown through extremely well-created cinematographic sequences where nothing is left empty, everything is magnificently detailed and done in an impeccable visual way.

I still haven't seen the whole series and it's that although all chapters are somewhat short, the series has 18 chapters and it's not easy to see them all in one shot. But most of the chapters I've seen have in common a creative environment that catches us immediately, with art and animations that highlight the creative work behind them. And is that this series besides being very entertaining to see is also a visual delight, the chapters have a diversity of impressive visual content where they combine different forms of cinematographic art.

Let's explore one of my favorite chapters so far.

Love, Death & Robots: ICE AGE

This is a chapter that manages to make the most of a simple and very short story giving it a tremendous visual and argumental twist where the actors stand out with very little, but they combine magnificently with visual effects reacting to them in a masterful way and that elevates the whole staging to an immersive and wonderful environment. The chapter focuses on a couple who have just moved into a new apartment, and while they were relaxing with a glass of wine they realized that in the ice cubes they took out of the freezer was the fossil of an ancestral mammoth, so they decided to explore more deeply the peculiar freezer, realizing that there was a small civilization in development.

A civilization that grows rapidly, advancing at a gigantic exponential speed and going through the same processes that our humanity has gone through, until finally unleashing an internal war that weakens them much but from which they are able to recover to continue advancing in their development until finally entering a futuristic era that vanishes everything.

It is impressive to see the interaction of the two actors with this small civilization, they are astonished and amazed at this event, they even manage to develop a quick affection for them without even having come into contact with those who make life there, incredible reactions are generated to how fast this tiny civilization advances, even worrying about whether they could be extinguished when they go to war. It is great the emotion and the concern that the actors transmit when they have some time without opening the freezer and knowing how their tiny universe is, so much so that when they reach the futuristic era and vanish, the sadness, surprise and even happiness are noticed in the moment, all to fortunately realize in the following morning that the process of evolution has restarted again.

This chapter is an absolute visual ode to the work of special effects, the creators manage in an amazing way to show hundreds of details in a small civilization that is in constant development, a civilization that does not intervene or need to have you intervene, in that little metaphor they show us that only time is capable of making us evolve, and the creators manage to show it in a wonderful way with an art incredibly implemented and that is done better and better in the chapter.

Chapter Score: 8,2/10
