It's Not a Bug...It's a Feature? - Did You Know You Can Change The Tag on Any Steem Page From Its URL?
I discovered something just now completely by accident when I tried to check out the analytics on my last blog post by manually changing the "steemit.com" to "steemd.com". I accidentally changed the tag field instead and noticed this:
You can do this trick with any post and any tag, as long as the tag has no spaces or goofy characters (=, &, etc.). Which, means if someone visited this following link:
It sends you directly to this:
Poking around, you can do this for any post on this site. For instance, try the top trending story right now. A little misleading, no?
Having the ability to share a custom URL for any post on this site with any tag you would like could lead to a little bit of awkwardness and embarrassment if abused by others. Dev/s (@ned, @dan, others?) is there any way this could be fixed in the future to only go to a tag the original poster intended? Or was this a feature by design?
I doubt it has any real effect though ....
take a look at the tag's page . = https://steemit.com/created/PenisPenisPenisPenisPenisPenisPenisPenisPenisPenis
there are no posts with that tag, indicating that nothing changed with the original post.
True. The harm here only comes from that tag appearing above one's post. Could be used to cause a reader to think, at least temporarily, that an author meant to have that tag.
Now, if we can only get PenisPenisPenisPenisPenisPenisPenisPenisPenisPenis trending ...🤔
