Color Challenge: Sunday Purple - Vicky Butterfly

There was a time between 2011-14 where we had a regular gig filming the bespoke burlesque show "Cirque Rouge" in Vienna's Volkstheater. This entry to the #colorchallenge shows Vicky Butterfly during her Ghost of Love routine performed on the 6th of July 2012. The lovely ladies aside it was a great opportunity to practice camera craft. Low light conditions, poor spotlighting and subjects that move and change very swiftly all carried their unique challenges.

About the Venue:

„Vienna’s greatest Burlesque Show“

The Cirque Rouge is a regular Burlesque Night, taking place every 2-3 months in Vienna. The main location is the Rote Bar of the Volkstheater in Vienna, but from time to time it takes place on other venues around Vienna.

Antonia Gruber aka Tiga Lily started the Burlesque Night in 2010, uniting music, burlesque and dance in a perfect mixture and by now the Cirque Rouge is one of the most popular events in Vienna. Whilst there are fabulous Shows on stage, featuring Singers, Conferenciers, as well as international and local Burlesque Performers, the audience itself is part of the event. The strict dress-code and retro music that is played on that night, takes you back into the old days.

At the Cirque Rouge we kindly ask you to dress in 20ies to 50ies style clothing. The dress code also allows you to get the full „Cirque Rouge Experience“ and makes the event more special for all of us. There are different styles welcome, starting from the 20ies and going until the 50ies. Inspirations may be Burlesque Starlets & Pin-Ups, Cabaret & Cancan, Dandys & Divas, Bohèmiens, Swingboys & Gigolos, Sailors & Uniforms, Glamour, Mafia & Prohibition, Moulin Rouge, Revue- & Variétegirls, Vaudeville etc. Ladies may use accessoires such as cigarette holders, feather boas, gloves, pearls and seamed stockings; for men there are hats, suspenders and much more. There is no „overdressed“! More is more. The main show is about 60 – 80 minutes and starts around midnight.
