So, since my account is already 40 days old and we are talking about cryptos here where 1 month equals 10 years in real life , I could already consider myself an expert on Steemit so if you want to make some cold hard cash, keep reading this.

Just kidding, obviously, I decided to start a series of posts in which I am going to give some tips on how to make your Steemit journey easier. Keep in mind that I am also new to this and I am only talking from my limited experience. What I'm doing is writing some things that I wish I would have read earlier. It would have saved me a lot of time and effort.

If anyone with more knowledge finds any problems with my thought process, please feel free to drop it in the comment section.

So, as you already saw in the title of the post my first tip for someone new starting out with Steemit is this:

Post less, comment more

Why? Because when you join the platform you will have no followers. Your blog post will be posted alongside with hundreds of others. You could get lucky and some dolphin or whale might be exactly at the right time and at the right place and hit your article with a nice upvote because they loved your article, but that probably isn't going to happen. And even if it did, how many times could you get lucky? Most of your posts will only have one upvote, or none. Here is an example. :)

You post again and again and you get tired of posting and getting no upvotes and no rewards. I've been there. It is really discouraging. That's why you should think about posting less and start building your follower base and connecting with other people here on Steemit. The best way to do it? Comment on peoples posts. Follow the big earners that you see on hot and trending and try to comment as much as you can on their posts.

Be careful though, spamming the comment section with "nice post, loved it" won't get you far. Try to add value to the discussion and you will see that you will start getting some upvotes too. Your comments will probably start earning you much more than your post.

However, only following the big guys and adding comments on their posts is not enough.

You will start earning some money, a small amount that is but you also want to earn more followers. You want your posts to be read by more people. Well, a whale who reads your comment will probably not click that follow button no matter how thoughtful your comment is. The solution?

Also try to comment on posts that are published by people new to the site or who have been here for only a couple of months. Let's get back to you story for a bit. Your posts don't get any upvotes and no one is reading or commenting on them. Suddenly you get a comment from someone that you find really funny or maybe you think that it adds a lot of value to your post.

You would be really inclined to follow that person or at least curious to read some of their blog posts. This is why you should not neglect the little guys like yourself and why you should not focus on commenting only on the posts that are earning big $$$.

Commenting on whales gets you some money.
Commenting on minnows gets you some followers.
