An alternate world?

Their identical twin disappeared for a day but was then found in the living room of the hotel where they were staying, wrapped in a beach towel like a blanket, unconscious late at night. There was a note attached that said: "I took the wrong one."

Panic is not the right word for what I was feeling, it was more than that, it was a mixture of "swallow me down" with "this is against me" and "poor brother!" All at the same time, run over.

His offended mind couldn't find an immediate action to take and gave way to the normal "Help! Help me!"

But, the hall was empty, except for the on-call receptionist who was returning from the toilets at the time and ran to her call.

"Did you call 911? How did he get here, did you see who threw him on the couch?" - He asked, and as he checked, he found out he was dead. He asked unintelligible questions, to the dismayed John who, with his hands on his head, did not organize an idea, let alone answer anything. As pale as his dead brother, and with a fixed gaze, he saw an infinite resemblance to the one Jack drew with his dead gaze.

So the receptionist took it upon himself to make the relevant calls in these cases. And he didn't know whether to run for his life or to make his guts into a heart to wait for the authorities because he knew there was no one to save since his twin was already quite dead.

After a while, no ambulance or police car appeared at the scene, but a hearse with two strange characters dressed in black, like those in horror movies, who were supposedly notified to remove a body and asked John to accompany them, to arrange the necessary legalities to move the body to its city of origin.

"What about the police?" John asked, reacting. "Isn't anybody going to do an autopsy? Isn't anybody going to investigate how or why he was killed?"

Then a light went on in his head as he remembered the note that was tied to his brother in one hand and realized that they were not what they looked or said they were and ran to the elevator. But, inside, he realized that there was no power to move it, the elevator did not make any movement to start despite pressing all the buttons.

He got out and hid behind the door of what looked like a little corner of mops and brooms, he didn't close it completely to avoid making a noise, and through the crack he left, he looked, shivering and frightened.

Then he saw the men in black and the receptionist walking past together as if they were part of the same team. And when he saw them, he noticed that they were the same... All three were the same! They seemed to be repeating themselves! How strange!

It seemed like an alternate world where everyone is repeated or something... But then how come they took the wrong twin? Wrong for what? An enigma that wasn't in their hands to solve, apparently and their head was spinning, trying to understand the situation they were facing.

He thought it was better to hide until dawn to escape when there were people moving around the hotel. But, he waited so long for the dawn, he felt that time was running out. The darkness was not moving and no one was walking out into the corridor.

He waited and waited and waited until he fell asleep and never woke up.
