I have a full report about the results of one of my most recent adventures in the form of good go-pro footage to scrape through but here is a sneak peak for my sailing fans who can't wait that long. The logo up there is on our crew shirts that were a big hit since there were no shirts made available by the organizers and we were tempted to scalp ours for some good $$.

Here is a shot of all 8 boats ready to launch for the first day of a 2-day regatta. Many of them are from our home club including Apidae, Miss Trixy, Curved Air, Warped Perception, 5-J and Line Drive and Racer X with La Trochita jumping in for their first regatta.

Forecast was for 10-15 knots out of the Southeast and it didn't disappoint.

The Skipper apparently gets really worked up and nervous before a regatta and I never knew this form the years sailing with him until he said it this weekend. As STEEMians know me, I am mr even keel and just roll into these big events looking forward to the adventure.

A little panorama of the fleet and Toronto to the right as we went for the clearer flatter side of the course in the first couple races.

The wind was too much for the main which was barely used and we opted for the number 3 (blade Genoa) and consolidated back down to the fleet without tacking.

At the end of the first day, we felt like we had gone 15 rounds. The wind picked up, as did the waves and competition as we managed to score a couple thirds, a 4th and a bullet (for first place in the last race.) The 160 boat in that shot exploded their traveller and had to retire a couple races in. We also say a couple of down-wind breaches as the spinnakers caught too much of the huge wind and was too much for 3 crews (that I managed to see.) The wind cost us a little too as in the 4th race, we blew up the top of the spin halliard and had to finish the race with a down wind genny. Would have put us in second in my calculation if that hadn't happened.

Many bumps and bruises and excitement and fun but we were done.

Here are the results at the end of the first day. We were 2 point back of the number 2 boat and ready for another day having found our groove. I hit the town that night as you may recall from the hip-hop picture in my Zekely post https://steemit.com/ulog/@zekepickleman/ulog-14-the-weekly-zekely and wound up a nice serious hangover so that I was ready for day 2.

Day 2 turned into heavy rain, sitting around in the club house, and watching the wind start to gust 45 knots......so they close the regatta off and we settled for 3rd. Still a great weekend and a competitor commented he had never seen us settle for a blue flag before.
