in #health7 years ago

Background

Currently, Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is still a disease suffered by many Indonesians. By suffering from the disease, should the patient should have the spirit and encouragement from within and encouragement from the family to control blood sugar. But what happens in most patients with diabetes instead rarely control blood sugar levels.

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is one of the major threats to human health in the 21st century. The World Health Organization (WHO) predicts an increase in the number of diabetic patients in Indonesia from 8.4 million in 2000 to about 21.3 million by 2030, Indonesia ranks fourth in the world as the largest number of Diabetes mellitus patients after India, China, and America (Aini, N., Fatmaningrum, W., Yusuf, A, 2011).

Based on that background, I will share the research results from "Regularity factor control of blood sugar levels in people with Diabetes Mellitus". In this research I did not mention the name of the research site because I did not get permission to publish the exact name of the study.

Research methods

Design This research is analytic with cross-sectional study approach. This study has been conducted from April to August of 2017. The population in this study were all patients who control blood sugar levels in people with Diabetes Mellitus. The sampling technique used in this research is accidental sampling with the sample number 50 people.

Relationship Education With Regularity Control Of Blood Sugar Levels In Diabetes Mellitus Patients

Untitled.png

Based on the table can be seen that, the statistical test results using a chi-squere test at a 95% confidence level produces p value <0.006 with a value of 11,387 means that those with a high education will be at risk eleven times more will be controlled blood glucose levels, from the description above can be known that the value of 95% yield value p value <0.006 which means there is a significant relationship between education with regularity control of blood sugar levels in people with diabetes mellitus.

According to my assumption, education is an effort to foster and develop the human person, the spiritual and physical aspect, also must take place gradually. Therefore, a final-point maturity on the optimization of development / growth, can only be achieved when going through process by process toward the ultimate goal of growth or growth.

This is in line with the opinion of Badawi (2011) stating that:

Diabetes mellitus is a disease characterized by blood glucose levels exceeding normal. Insulin produced by the pancreas gland is very important to maintain the balance of blood glucose levels that is for normal people (non diabetes) fasting time between 60-120 mg / dL and two hours after eating below 140 mg / dL. If there is interference with insulin work, the balance will be disrupted so that blood glucose levels tend to rise.

Knowledge Relationship With Regularity Control Of Blood Sugar Levels In Diabetes Mellitus Patients

Untitled.png

Based on the table can be seen that, the results of statistical tests using chi-squere test at a 95% confidence level produces p value <0.007 with the value OR = 2.247 means that those with high knowledge will be twice the risk will be controlled blood glucose levels, from the description above it can be seen that the value of 95% yield value p value <0.007 which means there is a significant relationship between knowledge with the regularity of blood sugar levels control in people with diabetes mellitus.

I think each respondent has different knowledge, this is because a person's knowledge can be influenced by the level of education, experience and information obtained. A person who is better educated than high school will be more receptive to information and will generate much beneficial changes for respondents. It should be emphasized, however, that a person with a low level of education such as elementary school does not mean that his or her knowledge is low.

According to Azwar (2008) that:

Knowledge can be influenced by the existence of information about something that provides a new cognitive foundation that is sufficiently persistent will provide an effective basis in assessing a thing that is influenced by the many experiences and information obtained from the existing media, but in fact some respondents never get information on the regularity of blood sugar control

Socio-Economic Relations With Regularity Control Of Blood Sugar Levels In Diabetes Mellitus Patients

Untitled.png

Based on the table it can be seen that, the statistical test results using chi-squere test at 95% confidence level resulted in p value <0,000 with OR = 12.824 value means that their high socioeconomic will risk twelve times more will be controlled blood glucose level, from the description above can be seen that the value of 95% yield value p value <0,000 which means there is a significant relationship between socioeconomic with regularity control blood sugar levels in people with diabetes melitus.

Researchers assume that which can determine the high socio-economic level in the community, including the level of education, occupation, income level, living environment conditions, property ownership, and participation in group activities from the community. In this case the description is limited to only 4 factors that determine the socioeconomic level of education, income, and ownership of wealth, and type of work.

This is in line with the opinion of Melly G. Tan (2011) who said that:

To see socio-economic position is work, income, and education. Based on this society can be classified into low, medium, and high socioeconomic positions.

Relationship Family Support With Regularity Control Of Blood Sugar Levels In Diabetes Mellitus Patients

Untitled.png

Based on the above table it is known that, the statistical test results using chi-squere test at 95% confidence level resulted in p value <0.006 with OR = 1,022 value means those who support their family support will be at risk one time more will be controlled blood glucose level, from the description above can be seen that the value of 95% yield value p value <0, 0006 which means there is a significant relationship between family support with regularity control of blood sugar levels in people with diabetes mellitus.

According to my assumption, family support is a support in the form of actions that come from the family of siblings, children, spouses or other relatives. On real support, the family as a source to achieve practical goals and real goals. Family support can give the individual a sense of comfort, feel loved when he is depressed, help in the form of spirit, empathy, trust, attention so that the individual who receives it feels valuable.

In the opinion of Friedman (2010), the meaning of family support is:

Attitudes and actions of family acceptance of family members, in the form of informational support, assessment support, instrumental support and emotional support. So family support is a form of interpersonal relationships that include attitudes, actions and acceptance of family members, so that family members feel there is a concern.
