How could one curate the #nature tag?
I have been thinking quite a bit about Steemit lately. I have been here for a few months, but have a hard time finding the content that really interests me, so I sometimes stop reading out of frustration. I have a feeling that the content I want is here, the problem is finding it. My interests are not very "straight-forward", you could say.

Having Unusual Interests
I study plant neurobiology and facilitate nature-inspired design processes, such as biomimicry. My big passions are bringing plant intelligence into architecture and urban planning, exploring plant consciousness, philosophyiing on how a plant mind could run automation and augment reality, and so on. I research these areas, consult on how to bring nature-inspired thinking into projects, and facilitate the biomimicry design process for the creation of products, processes, and services.
So where would someone like me look for content?
In the past I have found some things in #science and #steemstem, but that is usually more related to botany, plant sciences, and other more well-known biologies, where the research is in a particular niche of a known branch. Plant neurobiology is still in the experimental phases, where we are looking to understand the ways plants make decisions. This means that there are few established papers because we still don't even know how to formulate the experiments. What we need is a place where one can throw out and debate theories, find research collaborators, and discuss what protocols make sense to follow. In short, stuff that is way less baked than what you normally find in steemstem.
When I was trying to explore how plants and biomimicry can be integrated into cities, I started looking at #architecture, but that doesn't seem to really get into why and how things were built. Most of what is there are people commenting on beautiful buildings. I would like to know what people think about the Living Building Challenge and the WELL standard vs. Leeds and what impact architecture has in the overall health of the inhabitants and users of a particular structure. All this especially with regards to bringing more nature into the city and creating areas of urban plantasy. There doesn't seem to be any tags being used for for urban planning, biomimicry, circular economy, or nature-inspired systems, especially with respect to plants and other sociological factors.
When looking to contribute on plant consciousness, I hit a brick wall looking into #psychology and #sociology. Understandably so, there you find traditional topics, not necessarily how these topics touch things like plants or architecture.
And as for all the automation and ecological augmented reality, I have never really tried to look. I was afraid of what I would find, and right now I don't have the time to wade through even more content with the hopes of finding one nugget of goodness.
Why not just use search?
You would think that would be easy, but it is not. I am not sure if it is the way search is implemented or the way I am looking, but I can't seem to find much of anything when I use search. In the end, I get a long list of results that are usually outside of Steemit. If anyone has any pointers, I am all ears (or would it be eyes in this case, since I have to read it?).
Possible solutions
I was looking at the #nature tag, which is the one thing that touches all the subjects I have mentioned above, and see that it is a huge catch-all bucket. Sure, there are tags like #animal, #flower, #gardening, #natural, but none are refined enough to really get into these types of cutting-edge topics. There are not even any tags related to plants or trees!
I will admit, I know nothing about curation or delegation, but if there is someone that shares any of the interests above and knows what it takes to create a really kick-butt tag with great content, I would be all over it. I am actually an extremely technical person (used to work in high-tech), but for some reason I have yet to wrap my head around how some things work around here, so I need help.
Would you be interested in thinking about what new tags could be created and how to give them visibility??

Want to know more?
Plant neurobiology, biomimicry, social innovation, plant music, design, interspecies communication, urban planning... These are just some of the biophilic topics I cover on my website and here on Steemit. Follow along and comment often. My goal is to create discussion, not give a conference! And if you explore related topics, let me know in the comments, I would love to follow you.
I do a lot of curation myself; whether on my page, for others and within groups and communities on Discord.
What you are specifically looking for when describing nature, and all the other potential topics, can be difficult to find on here under just one keyword or search.
Thinking about the above mentioned curation for nature and finding others to share with and work together is to:
I just started curating on my own when i first joined steemit over a year ago and it has grown from there. I basically took it into my own hands and ran with it
Thanks for the reply. I apologize if my question comes from ignorance, but what do you mean by "curating on my own"? What are the physical components that make up "curating"? I am still not sure I really understand.
I agree that it all can't go under one tag. The question I am asking myself is: what tags to use that are broad enough to capture interest and narrow enough to keep that interest?
Since I got here, I am been looking for people that have posted on topics that interest me. I always follow and comment, looking to generate more synergies, but as I said in my post, I have a hard time finding with the existing tag and search mechanisms. I have been using the existing tags as best I can. In some cases they work, in many they don't.
Any details you can provide on what it means to "curate" would be greatly appreciated.
In regards to curation and doing it on my own- I make posts on my page that are a collection of posts.
One example is here-
https://steemit.com/curation/@goldendawne/steemitmamas-curation-edition-3-and-steemitmamas-delegation-announcement
I delegated some of my own SP to the page called steemitmamas and once, sometimes twice a week, I find members of the group and community, and feature three of their posts. At the end of the seven days, I divide the liquid SBD among the three people I featured and pay them. I don't do the curation posts to earn myself.. but to help the other people get exposure and visibility as I have over 3000 followers.
I also do other curation of other members with topics like- cooking/recipes, DIY projects, prepping, homesteading and gardening, travel and adventure.
About searching the tags and being able to find more detailed topics and tags... remember that steemit is only in the beta phase still. So being able to find things may not be as easy to do.
This is EXACTLY the type of information I was looking for. Thank you so much! This helps give me ideas for what is possible. For some reason, I had a mental block on how to actual get the ball rolling, so this is really useful.
Now I have a few ideas of what I can do. It is going to take a little time to plan it all out with my time, but I feel like I have a direction now. Very grateful for the information!
Glad I could help you out with this.. when you're just starting on the platform.. things can feel overwhelming
So true! But I really like the idea of compiling together content to share. This is so simple, and yet so effective. One step at a time!
Sorry I can't help more, but I am ignorant on this subject. Doing a search though I have found these threads (there are many more, but this should be a good start for you). Read the articles, if you find them relevant you can follow the authors and look through their comment sections for other like minded individuals who would understand the concepts you study and wish to engage in.

I hope you can find some good leads in here. I think it is cool to have those with your knowledge base and interest using this platform to share and perhaps collaborate with others in a way that those of us more ignorant on topics such as this can maybe glean a better insight.
Thank you so much. The older posts in this list I have seen. In many cases, people are cutting and pasting from old articles, which is why I have not commented. There are some new ones that I had yet to get to, so I will connect with those.
Maybe #biomimicry is a good place to start, working on developing that tag, since it is the easiest. #natureinspireddesign would be great as well, but it is too long and complicated, biomimicry is much easier.
Wish me luck!
