Columbus Steemit Meetup

As you may know from previous posts, @jrue, @aweber, and I are friends who live in the Columbus, OH area. @jrue joined Steemit a little while ago, and recently recruited @aweber and me to give the site a try. We've all had a wonderful experience with Steemit so far, and I know that it has really motivated me to be creative and put extra time and effort into my photography and editing in order to post quality content.

@aweber, @jrue, and I have been talking about getting together to take pictures and create content for future posts and we were able to do that on a freezing Thursday night last week (we were also joined by our friend who is in the process of joining Steemit as @theblake. Check him out!). We had a great time of hanging out, talking about Steemit, and letting our creative juices flow. Though we do hang out regularly as friends, Steemit definitely gave us the motivation in this instance to get together on an evening when I usually would have just sat on the couch at home watching Netflix. It's easy to forget that there are real people behind all of these Steemit accounts, and a meetup like this is a great reminder of the incredible potential that we collectively hold as members of the Steemit community.

We started out the evening by taking pictures at several outside locations in Downtown Columbus but after an hour or so in 0 degree Fahrenheit temperatures we moved the party inside to a friend's house. While inside we experimented with various lighting setups and different styles of portraits that we had been wanting to try out. I'll be posting a small hodgepodge of pictures from the evening, but also be on the lookout for posts from @aweber and @jrue that will be coming out later today and will give slightly different perspective on the evening.

Hopefully this is the first of many meetups as the Steemit community continues to grow in Columbus and all over the world.
