Get the Swedish Kishon

For a long time I did not laugh in a wild voice, as I laughed during the reading of the illiterate book she could count. The reference to his books of Jonas Jonasson received Maccabeus in its response to my previous criticism here you teach . I went to the library and took the two old books out of the window and the illiteracy she knew to count.

This is the funny-to-tears story of Alan Carlson, who retired to a nursing home after a long and turbulent life. It was supposed to be his last stop on earth-but his body was healthy and refused to betray him, and to his disappointment came his hundredth birthday.
At the nursing home an impressive event is being prepared for him, but Alan has escaped from his own birthday party. When a passerby asks him to look after a mysterious suitcase for a moment, he decides to take it and disappear. Alan soon had to run for his life-followed by police and gangsters, the Swedish media and the entire nation.
The month-long pursuit of Alan and the colorful gang that gathers around him is intertwined with a crazy journey throughout the 20th century: how did our hero save Generalissimo Franco from death, get a ride from Churchill, dine with Truman and sail in the rivers of China with the young wife of Chairman Mao ? It turns out that Alan not only witnessed some of the decisive events of the last century but also caused them.

I began to read about the hundred-year-old man who had left the nursing home and was being carried away by a clumsy plot of policemen, crooks, and journalists. The writer used the successful narrative of the book / film Forest Gump. During the course of his life, the hero encountered all the central events that influenced the world. For example, the Spanish Civil War and its connection with Generalissimo Franco, the Manhattan Project and its connection with US President Harry Truman and so on.

Jonas Yunson combines humorcas built on grotesque characters, all the characters are incompetent, which only luck and the author's fingers lead them time and time again to cross the minefields on their way.

For you intelligent readers, the author plant social and political messages throughout his humor. I assume that few of you have heard of the program of racial improvement (mainly sterilization of the mentally disabled, disabled, sick and poor) led by Prof. Lundborg (who preceded Nazi Germany) in Sweden between 1935 and 1975

  • While writing this post I realized that the United States has led to the forced sterilization program link

His second illiterate book, which he also knew to count, is written in the same format as the combination of his characters in historical events. Already in Prologue, the author writes, "The statistical probability of an esoteric Slavonic of the 1970s growing up and finding herself locked up in a truck full of potatoes one day with the king of Sweden and his prime minister is one in forty-five billion seven hundred sixty-six million two hundred and twelve thousand eight hundred and ten. All this according to the calculations made by the aforementioned illiteracy herself. "

Here the plot begins in apartheid South Africa and moves to Socialist Sweden. The second motto of the book "How many drops of alcohol can neutralize all the crises in the world" and only "fools drink."

''

An atomic bomb makes its way to Stockholm instead of Tel Aviv. This is followed by a cross-continental chase, in which two Mossad agents and the King of Sweden participate. There's also a pouch of uncut diamonds, a knapsack full of banknotes, and a couple of brand-new antique jugs. The one who links all the dots is Numbeko Mayaki, a very intelligent and resourceful young woman who was born into the most miserable existence in the world but does not intend to surrender to her fate for even a moment.

In a very funny and witty novel, Jonas Yonasson reminds us that stupidity and wisdom do not always reside in the expected place.

In conclusion, his first book, the century old, is excellent and takes you to the end. It is well written, original and witty. In contrast, in his second book, the illiterate girl, in the third third of the plot. The reading becomes obsolete and if I had not decided to write this criticism I would have abandoned the book. Still, I'm going to read the next book by Jonas Yunson, the killer who dreamed of a place in paradise.

''

After many years in jail, Andres goes free. He's a hired killer,
He had to find a living, he was dying to live. but how?
With a woman who was a priest, with a receptionist at a shabby hotel with a lot of hope
In the heart and terrible thoughts in your head, a strange group is formed and has a purpose
One: Do the blow. But then ...
Well, then something strange happens to Andres. The terrible killer, fierce-eyed and conflicted
The soul suddenly becomes interested in the meaning of life. When he finds
God - and this, oddly enough, also answers him - the three go out,
Under the guidance of the one who is in heaven, on a dizzying journey that is gradually out of control.
Yones Yunson the Swede, the great old-fashioned bestseller of the century
Out of the window and disappeared sold millions of copies around the world,
Succeeds again in weaving a funny and brilliant plot, with a motto in her heart
You may not respect; it's never too late to start over.
