Animal Trade (Dogs and Cats)

Dogs and cats, are created animals, therefore do not exist in wild life, are considered domestic animals. They did not come alone to the streets of our cities. They are there because they put them there, and that added to that because so many are found and reproduce by nature, is the cause of the lack of control of abandoned animals that exist. But that an animal is abandoned is only the last part of the chain.

When we see dogs and cats in the streets and we say that is caused by people who do not sterilize the animals they have at home, most seem that is an exaggerated and even shocking assertion.

The explanation is quite simple for who really wants to understand it. Trade is the act that is based on the monetary exchange for a product that is considered of equal value, or the opposite activity, which is known as buying and selling respectively. This means that any action taken under this concept is considered trading. If a puppy is sold or bought, it is participating in the trade in animals and helping to make the activity work. Automatically and without realizing it is placed the animal as an object, a product, and not as a living being, and this is not perceived if it can not be reflected towards our own species, for example what would be the reaction if we are with someone selling children to whom different value was placed according to their race? It sounds crazy to put a price on a child who is a living being; but this is exactly what happens with the animal trade.

In order for any commercial activity to work, it is necessary to involve at least two entities, which means that if any of the two necessary minimum counterparts fail, the activity fails. In a pet store, it is common to meet people who give in to the sad look of a puppy waiting for someone to decide to incorporate it into their family. But what really happens is that for that puppy they took home, many more will occupy that cage, and as long as they continue to buy, they will continue to sell, simply because it gives results and is beneficial to the business. As with any commercial item, every offer requires a demand, so the greater the demand for puppies of a particular breed, the more they will continue to 'produce' them.

It is estimated that the world population of dogs is approximately 700 million (W.S.P.A data) and continue to grow rapidly, of which 77% or more live on the streets. The world population of cats is much greater, thanks to its reproduction is faster. When we participate in the trade of animals, whether as sellers or buyers, we are contributing to these numbers increase, and also denying the opportunity of a home to an animal that already exists and is desperately waiting for a home and a family. So, please, I ask you to ALWAYS consider adopting instead of buying.
